Hello,
For some time I have been trying to break the first struggle at 30 sec. and can do it some times but not as often as I would like. So I was wondering if anyone had tips to help me I have spent a lot of time looking for an answer but have yet to find one. I can mentally focus especially with the help from tae kwon do and have good cardio. But every time I start to relax it seems that the struggle picks up more.

Hopefully I posted this in the right spot!

What does this "struggle" feel like physically?

It kinda feels like my lungs are pulling together and starts pulling from my nose too. But now I have managed to get my time up to 1 min which I really don't think is that bad for how few days I have really been concentrating and working on it intensely. Last night I managed to figure out away that brings the air up to the opening of my throat and that is more bearable. Also does anyone have any good breathing exercises besides the o2 and co2 tables to increase lung capacity?

I think you may be experiencing 'contractions'. These are quite normal during breathholds and is a sign from your body that it is time to breath. Of course to learn to hold your breath for a longer period you have to learn to let them pass. Your ability to deal with contractions will get better with practise. There is plenty more info available if you search use the function.

Don't think too much at this stage in terms of increasing lung capacity, but rather focus on using the capacity you have now. Do some research on 'diaphragmatic breathing' and see if you can find some exercises to help you learn how to take a FULL breath. You just might be amazed.

Here is a simple execise to get you started: lie down on your back with one hand on your belly and the other on your chest. As you breathe in do you feel your chest rising or your belly?

Shoutatthesky thanks for your help I'll try your idea for searching because I tried searching breath holds and all I really found was the tables. And to answer your question I fell both move but my stomach more.
