Unfortunately I couldn't go due to recent surgery, but here is my wife and our daughter and her two kids and husband.

I hate to miss a good Brunello.

They celebrated a day early so Nancy can spend Christmas day flying home.

How beautiful! Such a shame you weren't able to make it, I hope your Christmas is special!

We always have a goose for Christmas. It will just be a bit late this year.:)

What a lovely Christmas. Do you guys go to Germany every year? Maybe next year it'll be you in the pics as well :)

We don't go every Christmas, but we've been for quite a few over the 13 years my daughter has lived there. My wife is a lot tougher than I am, so she generally goes over there about three times a year. I go more like once or twice.

But for the last few years, my daughter and her family rent a place in Laguna for about a month in the summer, so we see a lot of them then.

This year they bought a new house and spent a lot of money renovating, so my daughter and the two boys are coming for two weeks over their three-week Easter break from school using miles accumulated by her husband on business trips, and slumming by staying with us.:)

My sister in law was German born although she has lived in Guernsey for over 30 years now, we still get plenty of German Christmas treats over the festive period.
We get marzipan chocolates, lots of candle powered mobiles, sauerkraut & we sing German lyrics to little donkey too.

There is a very interesting story as to how my brother met his wife... he was in hospital recovering from an eye operation & Edelgard (his wife to be) was employed for a few hours a day by the hospital, to talk to the people recovering from eye operations & in return improve her English.
My brother was completely bandaged up so he could not see anything but enjoyed Eddies company & asked the doctors what she looked like, Eddie was also working as a photographic model as was in fact quite beautiful.
Anyway - they have always maintained that they both had such strong feeling towards each other that in fact they were considering engagement before Derek had even actually seen his future wife!
Eventually the bandages came off, Dereks eyes worked & he loved what he saw for the next 30 years. :inlove

I will second that if I'm allowed !Could be based on the island during the occupation some thing like a Douglas Barder movie!Where was the picture taken foxfish?

That picture was taken in Guernsey just before they got married in 1965, you talk of the islands occupation, well it was of course, quite controversial for them to marry as Derek's ( & mine of course) father & Edelgards father both fought in the war on opposing sides!
As it turned out they became good friends & shared a few pints together over the following years.

Thats spooky I saw a story on tv not long ago of a couple who were German and English met during the war and marryed not long after.Theres some great storys and history of your islands .Hope to be there soon to investagate!Take it your still partying hard? You ever planing to come north?
