well for one thing, the shaft does not fall out when you don't have the shooting line wound up. Will probably save your trigger mechanism from prying action when the shaft jumps the groove.:hmm

the riffe track is fo rmainly freeshafting. It isnt stiff enough to protect much against shaft whip if that is what you are looking for. It was designed to hold the shaft in place for those who dont use a line(its a Florida thing:hmm )
