hi guys,

I used to have an old gun with metal wishbones, I thought they were great because they last forever.

My now Rob Allen gun seems to chew through dyneema ones.

Can I use metal ones on my Rob Allen. Is there anything difference in performance?

Thanks

Rob

Get some decent pure dyneema. The ones I use seem to be indestructable, no problems at all.

Regarding difference, dyneema is much safer for the spearo (just incase it slips a dyneema wishbone will hurt a lot less (ive had it happen before), and apparently less noisy & less drag (dyneema wishbones)

You might need to file and sandpaper the notch.

Generally shafts that are made for dynema have well rounded notches or shark fins that are reasonably smooth. If so, there should be little wear - as long as you don't saw the dynema back and forth across the notch when the band is loaded.

The problem with rounding out a notch on a coated shaft like a RA (or MAKO) is that it will remove the protective coasting and this will increase the potential for corrosion.

metal wishbones can **** you up if they brake while reloading ! It has happened to me, and it is not nice :D

I use both types depending n the gun & spear set up. Generally on multiple rubber guns with loading tabs/fins I use cord, on single rubber guns, particularly my competition guns & use articulated bridals. These are photos of the view down one of my comp guns. Its not hard to see which bridal will allow the fastest aiming & most accuracy.
