Michele Tomasi: Italian challange to the Under Ice Guinnes World Record

On the 12th of February 2012 morning, at Lago Santo in Val Cembra (Trento - Italy), the Freediving World Record Michele Tomasi will try to improve the Under Ice Guinnes World Record.

The current record is held by a woman, the turkish Şahika Ercümen, an International Apnea Academy Instructor, who did 110 meters in February 2011, near the lake in Austria Waissensee (read here => Åžahika Ercümen: NEW UNDER ICE GUINNES WORL RECORD)

Michele Tomasi will swim under the ice, using a monofin.

On the frozen surface of the lake ​​only two holes will be made, at a distance greater than the previous record. Ice thickness has to be at least 30 cm.

hi all,
a few pics from the guinness dive:

after the routine checks, the staff took place in and out of the water
two TVs were present: the national "RAI 3" and a private one "Sky Sport"
Michele had his OT at 11:45

he says he felt very concentrated and relaxed before the dive, much more than in the trainings during the previous days, despite the people around him
low heart rate, great concentration, maximum relaxation, correct breathing drove Michele to his entrance in the water
Michele siad he didn't even felt the dive until he reache the 125m mark, he hase always been followed by his three "dive angels", his friend Marchi, Stella and Uber, he reached the exit hole perfectly clean
contractions, Michele? "well, i... actually i don't know. I felt so good and relaxed that i didn't feel them"

a little mystery on the attempt: the holes have been cut in the ice the day before the attempt and, due to the very low temp of the night, they resulted 15cm further from each other
the staff has been forced to adjust the safety lines to those 15 extra cm
