I'm not from there, BUT I dove off of the UAE and Oman this summer. Amazing spearfishing potential especially from shore dives. I dove a lot of new manmade breakwaters, jetties etc. a stones throw from downtown Abu Dhabi, and it was LOADED with fish! Oman presents some of the most virgin warm water diving left in the world. Pristine reefs just of the beach. I had a blast, and regardless of what the public opinion is these days, the people were fantastic. Don't mistake their introverted nature for dislike. The people around that area are some of the nicest I have met.

You can check out some spearfishing photos from that area on Riffe's website www.speargun.com just go to the photo gallery and there are a number of photos from the area.

Have fun,
Matt

I'll be in Ras Tanura this December and possibly next summer. many a day spearing the gulf...
