A lot of American spearguns have midhandles and I wan to have a midhandle on the speargun i am going to build. Has anyone built their own midhandle gun?
I would like some tips about the releaseing mechanism, I think I will have a springloaded pushrod, seems to me that its the most common setup.
However, I would love if someone gave me some help, with pictures and info on how to make the handle construction, trigger etc.
I have just finished making my own mechanism :D :king , will take photos of it tomorrow and add to the thread.

Thanks a lot.

Hello again. Here are some pictures.
They are on my webpage. It is unfortunently in swedish so far but the pictures says it all.
here are the links:

I havent really tried the mechanism yet since i havent built the stock yet. The stock wont really be a problem though, except for how to make the midhandle, i reckon its gonna be to weak if i drill a hole trough it for the pushrod, any omther opinions?
The new problem is where to get stainless spring steel at a diameter of about 8mm! Anybody know some place in nothern europe that sells it? preferrably in sweden, or denmark is ok too.
btw Thanks pastor, all info is good, just looking at the pictures is good.

So does anyone have info on where to get stainless spring steel or does anyone have a little guide on how to make a midhandle and the pushrod it would be great!

Also, please leave some feedback on my webpage and mechanism.
Im making the speargun for a schoolproject and It would be good to know what others think of it!
Thanks a lot!

Hi Ivar!

Cool trigger mechanism!

I've never seen that design before. Thanks for posting the pics!

Here are some pics of the way i do it, I make my own handles but if you get an already made handle it's a little easier.

Thanks alot, very helpful with a few pictures.
Why do you hide the pushrod with that piece of teak metelin?

Several reasons, first, thats where I hide the lead for ballast/balance and I can change the thickness of the cover to float more or less weight, second, the extra hight allows the gun to be braced by your forearm for one handed shots, third, you need someting to hold the push rod secure and last I like the way it looks.
