Anybody tried freediving the flooded Valhalla missile silo in Abilene, Texas? 110 ft, very clear 58 degrees F? Somebody might as well get some use out of all those cold war military $.

I needs me one of them there flooded silos in my back yard!

It it open for diving? I thought I had heard of people north west (South Dakota, Wyoming or something) of here converting old silos into homes or something. Maybe I'll do a little searching on the subject.

I tried to set up a freedive session at that missile silo. The owner seemed to be cool with the ideal, but insisted on having a large insurance policy in place. He also insisted it be set up through a dive shop that would accept all liability. Alas I could not find any shop that was interested in doing it. It would be a perfect place to train for depth, being 135' deep. The water is basically seepage through the concrete, but it can still get stirred up if scuba divers get to close to the bottom.
