Aloha comrades,

I would really like to find a solution for my wetsuit top - and am beginning my research here.

When I fasten the beaver-tail on my 3mm Yazbek Camo Thermoflex top (size 52 Long) it gets way too tight in the you-know-where. Way too tight. It felt fine when I tried it on in the shower. . Reps at Picasso America say this "binding" problem happens sometimes. They recommend I just pull the upper part of the top down as far as I can. Modifying the suit, (by lowering the snaps, or adding a length of neoprene) voids the warranty. Ideas welcomed.

A picture of the suit I have is here:

I am otherwise very happy with the Yazbek. It is warm and flexible.

I would buy a little chunk of neoprene, cut the tail, match the neoprene up (say a 2" piece to give you some relief on the cojones), glue it together then sew it up. Voila!
Warranty on these suits doesn't mean much anyway.

Yep. (sigh). Saving "operation voila" for the last resort.

Tried it on in the shower again. Fits perfect in the shower. hmm. At sea, I must not be pulling it down far enough, or my movement in the water is getting it to "ride up." Will test it one more time. I will have a chance in a week or so. Will let ye know how it goes.

Just were a womens thong all week and it will become normal!!!

Roger Yazbeck is a friend of mine and he is honest so the warrenty is good.

the material is very stretchy so you might be able to clamp the tail and stretch it leaving it sit for a wile.... thus not voiding the warrenty.

Another idea might be to build a small extension for the tail that is seperate. A 2" piece of neopene that has the female receptacle(s) for the tail, and another male end. You could just hook it up and that would extend your tail a bit.

Do you wear your weightbelt on your hips? If you do this can make your jacket ride up when you dive and the belt tries to shift to your waist.

Clamp the tail - Good option. Will keep that in mind.

Thong for a week - I will not try that one, but will take your word on it. My friend, you seem a little too knowledgeable and experienced here.

Find a triangular scrap of neoprene and get a set of matching connectors so that you can "add" an extra couple of inches to the "rise".

Yes. This is very similar to what Erik is recommending. If I have to, this seems like the best way to keep from damaging the suit. Mahalos to you both for the response.

This definitely happens. I understand what you are saying. Any solution to this one?

It's been raining a lot over here the last two weeks. Last Sunday, we finally got to go out. It fit better this time. I did two things:

1) Experimented with the rubber weight belt. Made it tighter. Since being able to breathe is nice, I can't recommend this for everyone. However, I seem to get away with it a little easier. I don't have much adipose tissue. Hence, the thicker wetsuit. :t

2) Rotated the sleeves toward my back. On the right arm, looking towards the fingers, this is a clock-wise rotation. Left arm, counter-clockwise. Though it caused some "bunching" of material at the shoulders, it made the backside long enough to feel comfortable.

Next time, I'll see if I can accomplish this rotation at the sleeves before I put the suit on. Though I can't say the problem is solved - it works well enough to be able to use it.

Thanks everyone.

i ended up attaching a new tail to my suit
it does fit normal when standing but when diving the jacket rides up a bit while pants go down a bit
