Thinking about a change to mono Can anyone enlighten Me on the pros and cons of mono over the standard shock cord that attaches the gun to the spear thanks in advance

Hi Shields, I've got a Seatec Gabbiano 77 which came with mono attaching the spear to the gun via some bungee/dyneema and have recently changed to a dyneema/bungee -only system. I'm going through dyneema way too quickly so I'm changing back to mono. the dyneema wears away where it runs into the spear, especially when you miss a fish and the full force acts on the dyneema.

I've almost lost my spear when the string wore through on one occasion so I'm changing back to the much more wear-resistant mono.

Thanks for the reply so mono is just basically more hard wearing than the dyneema

Mono is far less likely to tangle.

So its safe to say bin the dyneema and get the mono on. will the bungee I have for the dyneema be the same one needed with the mono i.e. a straight forwards swap with the lines

Straight swap but you need crimps rather than knots... search the forum for speargun rigging.

On my Gabby 77 I use mono without bungee. No need of bungee on a 77 with a basic spear/band set up.
