I did a search on tangles and found a poll a few years old. I am remembering many of the things that I used to worry about in my previous dive life. One of my major fears was getting tangled in line, and specifically monofilament fishing line.
If I get caught in netting or an anchor line (not chain) I am pretty sure a knife would work through that. But for monofilament would one of those "gut-hook" looking things work better? Do any of you use them? How do they compare overall to a standard knife? Any suggestions or alternatives for strictly freediving and probably hunting eventually? I know that my knife will be a tool and not an "anti-great white fighting knife" or a "Super Morrey chopper".

Thanks again,
Gary

Thanks Spaghetti,
I do not read Italian (it is Italian right?) but that tool looks exactly like what I was thinking of. I saw one for sale at www.scubastore.com. Right after I posted this I saw the other active discussions.

It seems like either a hook tool like the ones mentioned above or a single edged knife would be ideal for this. Single edge for safety (cutting youself into chum while trying to find the invisible monofilament holding you) and also useful for larger stuff that won't fit into the hook.

Hopefully this link works to what I was looking at. What does everyone else think?
