Hello everyone, I am new to this site and to blogging but I am interested in learning from anyone who can help: I am about to buy a monofin and I need advice. First, does anyone have any images or videos of the curvature characteristics of the Trygons and Waterways Glide freediving monofins? I am interested not only in the longitudinal curvature but also the lateral curvature- do the blades make a convex or concave shape? In other words, do they channel the water through a concave surface or does it slip away to the sides on a convex surface when? (I refer to the side of the blade pushing against the water).
Also, I envisage some problems with streamlining when I dive vertically with a monofin because I will need to keep moving one hand to my face in order to close my nose for equalising. This means that I will break my streamlined position of having arms extended. I am in the habit of equalising continually- lots of small eaqaulisations- while diving with bi-fins. Is there a better technique for equalising with a monofin? Any general advice on monofins will be welcome. I am inclined to go for Trygons- I have the bi-fins and they are fantastic.
