Monofin Purchase advice

I figured the lobster style tail flip was the only way it'd be effective, making dynamics in shallow water damn near impossible. But if nothing else, the lower half of my body will be made much more appealing to the eye, as I'm made to swim in circles in the deep end of the pool.

It seems Bogdan has responded to my endless whining about blade stiffness by somehow getting his hands on a carbon blade for me. This will be interesting!

A carbon monofin is kind of like a Speedo Fastskin. You get ten uses out of it and then have to throw it out as it starts to break down.

Mullins, have you thought about trying Revan's DolFin? I should think he would practically give you an Orca since you are the DYN champion.

Got my carbon glide yesterday. Unfortunately my back is stuffed at the moment so it'll be a few days before I can try it out. Looks nice though, very similar to C4 carbon. Must ask Bogdan where it's from.

STH, I did suggest that to Revan but he wasn't keen. It would be a bit of a risk for him - all good if I liked it, but if I decided it was crap it'd be an expensive exercise in bad publicity.

Ron, does Natalia own a DOL-fin, or did she quit the idea after the Okinawa DYN? In my eyes it was an amazing success, but perhpas she hoped to break her WR with it. Which is on my mind a bit over-optimistic after just two days of training with a completely new fin. So far I know only about Eric Fattah among competitors (except of yourself) who currently uses it. Or are ther other competitors in the meantime?

Naa I wouldn't have sent one to me either. Too expensive and risky; and if the design is seriously good it'll find its way onto the scene soon enough anyway.

At the time of your request, I literally did not have any hardware to send even if I wanted to. Even now, the DOL-Fin Orca is scarce due to the time and effort that goes into making each one.

Hi Everyone .
I looking monofin for beginner, i'm pretty new in freediving, going in swimming pool about 3 times per weak and training with scuba fins... so want to try monofin and i cant decide what to choose. My best static is 5:20, but in action only 2:15... problem that swimming pool length is 17 meter, so its many turns...and i was thinking to buy cheap mono, just to have fun and start use to it. But what you think about FINIS mono's? Hmmm from the few things I know about monofinning, it's not worth getting a cheap plastic one. Having said that, I've never seen a FiNIS fin...

Just an idea - why don't you switch the scuba fins for a pair of rubber fins and practice monofinning that way as a start, until you get the technique right and strengthen the right muscles. Bit worried that if you got a monofin straight away without having practiced before, you'll end up kicking with your knees...

The Plastic "Rapid"Finnis fin is not worth buying. If you want something cheap, buy a "classic" (Waterway) model fin. About E 130,- , second hand even cheaper.
I also agree with Simos' advice.
