Hello!
I new comer from Ukraine -Andrey Yakovlev.
I am finswimmer coach, Eurpoean champion of finswimming.Together with my brother Evgeniy main coach of Ukrainian team and World champion we produce yakovlevfin(hope that you some of your used tham)

several mont i looking for discus about rocketfin and coppy for this company.
i want show you 1 example.
Today Ukrainian national team goes for World Champ finswimming in Spain, we have 15 atlets (just person how goes for medal position)
I want to told what monofins they used- 5 person starfins, 5 person yakovlevfins, 4 person wwfins, 1 zolotovfins.
So in motherland of rocketfin nobody from this national team not used rocketfins...
in you forum i read from viktor that all fin is not ligal coppy of Rocketfins, so i hope that my example give a answer who is whom coppy. several year ago he construct some fin that used some good athlets , do a go promotion in this market and after this all fin made y stamped without any individalitty and personals characteristic. i never used this words if i not find a non correct words abut my company and other finmaker in finswimming forum.
With respect Yakovlev

Dear Andrey Yakovlev,

Thank you for participating on this wonderful forum!
As you are a finswimming coach, and many freedivers can use better technique I'm sure your training and insights will be appreciated. We here have some very knowledgeable people here, but I feel that your finswimming skills are not jet represented as strong as I would like to see it. Actually I would like to see some finswimmers come over and try for some distance Speed is nice but efficiency and distance are very cool too!

I'm sorry to say but your argument about who copied who's fin design is invalid - fallicious - fault - illogical. You've just made an "# Appeal to Popularity ". This does not mean that your statement is incorrect though.

Making a living these days is not easy in this world wide crises and competition is fierce as people feel the need to bend in ways thought previously impossible to feed their families and the the big increasing demand of the 'state'.

For me I like people to sell their product in a positive way. Not by tarring the competition with fallacious arguments and suggestive comments. In fact when a sales man speaks so negative about one competitor in the market, I got a bad vibe and it turns me off big time.
What I like is people understanding the freediver's needs and being able to deliver a fitting product. Good and clear communication is vital.

People here on DB come from all over the world and understand that everybody's English isn't that great and have patience and are careful in passing judgements upon others.
Thankfully we have some wonderful people here that help out when the emotions prevent any constructive communication.

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

Andrey Yakovlev - First - I will say you have an excellent name! As a Student of ww2 and since aviation such a name is very good for things that 'fly'!

I only just read your post - but I did not see it as self-promotion. Of course I respect Kars point of view but I must point out that you did not even include contact information - which undermines the argument that you are promoting your fins. You also mentioned three other brands being used by your team without indicating preference for any of them.

Moreover - you are not defending your own fins - but someone elses. In fact you do not even criticize rocketfins - but only their method of sales and claims of originality.

Thank you for offering your perspective.

Hello Fondueset!
thanks for understood my problem and point of view!
alex from starfin told me about your always correct words in this forum.
with respect Andrey

kars i have to remind you that main events in finswimming is 800m immersion and 1500m surface so mr yakovlev has the skills to say his opinion
do not hate finswimming.its real races

Hi Pavlito,

Please don't get me wrong, I greatly respect and appreciate finswimming. I've watched finswimming video's and even swam at a finswimming club. I find their technique adorable, beautiful, and realise how much many freedivers can learn from them. That's why I'm so happy to see people like Yakovlev join this freediving forum, taking interest into this sport where even the ugly can perform well LOL

I don't mind people do a bit of promoting their business. I do mind when people use fallacious arguments to down talk other people's work. Those people come across as revengeful and though that can be used as a motivation to grow, it takes love to excel.

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

Pavlito, when Kars said "distance" he would have meant distance in apnea, not endurance swimming.

Kars
I can repeat againe, i do not made noice about my company in your forum, i want just some person stop think that he is one on this earth and nobody can breath without his halp... our team is most titeld team of the world during lust 10year. i have enough promotion of our work.
by the way about distance, lust year of my and brother sports live our specialisation is 20km marathon in open water, its more that 3 hour of hard endurance work without stop and changeeng fin with small shoes , wnen blood almost stop cerculation for feet.
hope that your understood me.

Wow 20km? that's an incredible distance!
I guess you want the fin not to be to tight then!

Has anyone considered crossing for the English-French channel with a monofin?

Correcting someone is always more difficult that most people expect. But we should not give up easily helping our fellow men to understand and grow. I think people here at DB do an good job in this regard, trying to be tactful, considerate, understanding and patient.

Thanks for the clarification Dave

thank you Andrey. Often I think people for whom english is difficult do a much better job expressing themselves!

Talking bad about competition is common practice and is OK as long as it's truth. Telling lies and crap is bad.
Example of major company.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfTyVL9TQmA&feature=PlayList&p=25ABED28DF85ED77&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=19]YouTube - Audi The Spell 2010 Commercial[/ame]

In this video, there is at least one lie about actual product and at least two about competition so that's not cool but where is Mr. Yakovlev lying?

To me he only brings more facts that create picture which makes more and more sense now - we have at least 2 Starfin users here that are happy and their fins came with very good pockets. There is at least 2 Rocketfin users with their foot pockets... well You can find the thread.

Personally I don't care about "war" between Viktor and Alex, doesn't matter to me who worked for who or who was first because life is constantly changing. Nothing stays the same, that's the way it is. What I care about is quality of final product. As far as selling strategies go - it is open market. Tough world and crisis You mentioned makes it even tougher

OFF topic to thread but not to post

This is me 16 years old leaving Yakovlev 12M built in 1955. This is old school pre FAA jump when nobody knew what tandem is. This was my first jump ever and Yakovlev wasn't as easy as AN-2 with flat floor. You actually had to step outside and hold the wing support arm (seen in upper left corner) then wait for instructor command and go!
My daughter won't get to play like we old hippies did

!!! you jumped out of a Yak!!! :thankyou

It is interesting - different perspectives. Viktor made a mistake to slam Starfins - Alex - perhaps mostly due to language - over participated in the Rocketfins thread - though he did finally open his own. Now Andrey has stepped in with a third point of view - very helpful for perspective.

From talking with Rocketfins users I will say all I've spoken too are happy - in Eric's case he ordered tight footpockets because he wanted a competition fin. Service is reported to be excellent. I don't know of anyone who has ordered a recreation/general purpose fin from them - so cannot make any generalizations about comfort.

You and I know Starfins are excellent and very well-tuned to our requests (and we are in good company!). As freedivers - I think no matter the argument - we win!!

I think these fins are all probably comparable and of excellent quality - including Yakovlev - of which we know little except a really cool name!.

Helllo!
Thanks everyboddy for support, critics and all opinion.
i think that any case my opinion and coming to you site made a litle change in your mind. belive me its important for us(not money side , just our protect our name), And dosent mater that one company sail 10 fins, other 1000 fins. the main is stay a HUMAN .One of your is write , that its not important for customer our war , the main recived quallitty product. But i think also important for customer comunicate with personalitty, not just with good sailer. if we teech person to do fins , how to sale, where get a matirial, how to sweam and so more and after this we read about self bad words , is that correct?
Especial for Kars , shure we can maid shoes for our perfomance 20 km much biger that not fill a pain, but resalts going out if feet moving inside shoes(foot must be like in Spanish shoes of inkvisition)
Thanks , that i found a new friends there

I long time wrote nothing in this theme, simply want to say that support opinion of Andrey ! And you not think that he can not say it in a person are we simply will from time to time show on other sites and forums that in Ukraine am more than one or 2 fins producers ! And who does them better - time will show or you tell each other about it ! Time, when we were restrained and correct passed ! But however writing about someone badly there is not a desire !
For expression of the emotions I used the forum of this site because 3 months I for it was sued by my friends ! Also it is comfortable and easy to the use + international and to everything here are people which can sincerely say of the opinion or criticism !
with best regards...

Hi everyone

I just want to share my personal experience with YAKOVLEV monofins and YAKOVLEV himself

First of all I want to let you know that I am really not used to doing things like that but I realised, as a freediver, that it is very hard to find the right monofin and that sharing my experience can help others

Finding the right monofin can be a real quest for the holy grail

You realise it is hard to get feedbacks and and most of the time you end up buying the same monofin as everyone because you don't want to take a risk ....the risk of not getting the right monofin or not receiving it at all when you buy it from abroad

A far as I am concerned, I didn't want to do like everyone and thought that amongst all the monofin manufacturers, there must be some very competent ones able to manufacture the right monofin for you ...

After going through internet, talking to fellow freedivers and exchanging with several monofin manufacturers I decided I would give a chance to YAKOVLEV

I ordered a monofin from him few month ago after he convinced me that he would do exactly what I want..

Of course, It was supposed to be a made to measure monofin.

Everything was fine and YAKOVLEV was very kind until I received the monofin

Unfortunately, the footpockets were way too big and the quality of the rubber so awful that some parts were already falling apart

Mistakes happen especially with made to measure items but unfortunately, YAKOVLEV refused to admit he made a huge mistake

I realised this is probably why YAKOVLEV keeps posting photos of monofins on facebook said to be made with new rubber... I guess the rubber he used for mine was the old and defective one

Because i was not satisfied at all with the monofin... I could not take the risk of an exchange that would have cost more money and time with no guarantee that i would be satisfied ...

After receiving some evidence of his mistake, he said he would reimburse me....... but never did

It has been few month now and he does not reply to my emails and texts

YAKOVLEV totally vanished

I am not sure I will ever get my money back

However I want to make sure people know what they can expect from YAKOVLEV as I am sure they don't want to go through this

I would have liked to be informed YAKOVLEV could act this way so that I take my decision according to it

I have nothing to say about the blade (in this respect he complied with the terms of our agreement) but obviously you cannot swim with a monofin which is a size 40 when you have ordered a 37.5....

As a result I had to order a new monofin from someone else
