Montenegro Spearo's & freedivers????

Hi

Im new to this forum, however am planning a trip to Montenegro around Jul 09, im coming from Australia.

Im a mad keen spearo/freediver here and I hear Monte is a pretty good place to go for the sport + I have free accomodation there

Any spearos from Monte here? keen to go diving with you if there are any out there!

Welcome to DB! There are a few aussies floating around here, and a couple from your side of the island too.

Not sure on the rules of spearing in Montenegro, but if you have the chance Budvar has lovely waters around it, as does Kotor - i'd highly recommend them both. Budvar can feel a little weird, like the whole russian mafia is holidaying there, but it does have lovely islands and great snorkelling.

ps. I remember seeing spearguns, diving and hunting accessories in a shop in Budvar (I bought a Cressi mask there) so I imagine you can spear there.

Im actually born in Kotor, but have lived in Aus since i was 4.

Will be based in Herceg Novi.....will check out Budva & Kotor too....I'd imagine the viz there is pretty good? All I need to find is someone with a boat/dinghy in Monte then ill be set

What species am i likely to encounter there?

I ve been to Montenegro a couple of times but never had the chance to go spearing
there is a shop in Tivat but cant tell you where (its in a side road near the water front)
Anyway for sure you will love the place
its of breathtaking beauty!
