Monterey California

Hello All,
I am a beginner spearo and have found that Monterey is the closest place to me with good hunting, even though its still a five hour drive. i was hoping that someone here may have experience in Monterey and could give me a few tips, 3mm or 5mm wetsuit? is a 75cm gun adequate? if you have and want to share any decent spots to spear that would be great, really any and all information would be appreciated.

You will likely need a 7 mm suit. The water can drop to 45F in the spring.
The 75 cm gun is a good starting point. If you need longer, you'll know it soon enough
For places, start with the CDFG regs. There a lot of limits on what you can do around the Monterey/Carmel area; refuges, no-take zones, Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, etc. After that, try areas that are open. You will quickly find the ones that have fish.
