Cool stuff, those people were very lucky to see such a show. Ive seen one between lions and crocs or buffalo or elephant and lions but never 3 at the same time.

I closed the window when the lions started going after the baby... happy or sad ending?

Amazing though. I sure would love to visit SA sometime...

happy, just watch it, it's really worth it! the baby goes from the lions to the big croc and then there is the power of the group to watch...

Such is the cycle of life, eat the weak is unfortunately the way it works. In this case though the weak got away...
Give us a shout when you come over to sunny SA some time Maytag, we are far away from the Kruger Park but we do have table mountain rofl

It was featured on YouTube recently, it is really great video

It was great to see the herd finally getting involved, circleing the wagons arround the lions, and than finally one bull got brave and charched and throw a lion meters into the air. He just overcame the victem mentality and stoot up for his family. Great exemple many people could learn from.

Love, peace and water,

Kars

Great footage Jorg ! .. amazing, yes Kars, this is how persons protect themselves and beloved ones .. :) .. more importantly : make balance !

I should be traveling to South Africa with the family (big group actualy but all family) on July 8th .. for 9 days only, but I think it's worth it .. not going to Kruger though, I've got a 6 month old child, not advised for the Malaria risk, instead will go on Safari in Kwantu Reserve in Eastren Cape, Malaria free zone, but what is more important is Hermanus, where we shall go for whale watching, seals, penguins, dolphins and diving with the Great Whites .. :D -God's willing- and the last two nights in Cape Town, any suggestions deep thinker ? where are you staying?

I dont stay that close to the beach but if you want good hotels theres one in Bantry Bay thats rite about between camps bay and city centre called president hotel it mite be worth a look... But it all depends what you are looking for, pm me some details and Ill see what I can recommend...

deep thinker .. it looks like a good hotel .. thanks .. :)
We were thinking of staying at the Waterfront Village - VA Waterfront .. do you know the place ?
Thanks again .. :)

Yea, the waterfront is nice but president has a better view of the ocean and I think their rates mite be better. V&A Waterfront tends to be overpriced cause of the fact that its such a tourist attraction. I also know that the waters around President Hotel are more diver freindly, but bring your 5mm suit, cause there is less boat traffic V&A bein a harbour aswell and President is also not that far from the Waterfront so you could allways spend a day or so shopping there. But hey the Waterfront is a very cool place and seein that your only gonna be there for 2 days, I dont know the decision is up to you. Let us know what you decide and I hope youll get good weather weve got a evil coldfront comin in tonight.

Hey deep thinker ! .. nice detailed explaination .. :)
President Hotel would be much interesting for me as a diver, now my other 18 non-divers joining me, they might like the Waterfront more being right into the action ! .. hmmmmm! .. then the weather, I got to know it was 9 C this morning, wow ! this is cold acording to our standards here in Arabia .. and it should be getting even more cold next month isn't it ?
but hey what about the government strike going on there, is it anything to get worried about as a tourist?
Sorry guys for changing the topic .. the last one .. I promise ..

Nha I dont think itll afect you too much. They are talking about ending the strike as the people striking needs to work, I dont think theyre getting payed at the moment so it should be over by the time you get here. It shouldnt be much colder weather wise when you get here as this is pretty much the top of winter allthough that would be normally and it hasnt been a normal one really so you never know, id pack for both warmer and cooler weather... Allthough if this weather continues I dont think youll be gettin much diving done but you never know :)

safe travels and have a great trip, Adolphin!

It's not easy being a hungry lion...

Just over the weekend, I managed to catch a glimpse of Animal Planet Channel. There was a program on the "man-eating" lions of Kruger. Apparently, they frequently attack the Mozambiquan refugees who cross Kruger into S. Africa. I don't know if the footage was staged/fake or what, bit it was really disturbing to hear what appeared to be an attack on a tribe, and to hear the sounds of bones crunching and flesh ripping apart (yes, I am a cowardly lion and closed my eyes shut until the crunching stopped). It is quite interesting how socio/geopolitical dynamics impact ecology and alter natural patterns of animal behavior.

Thanks Maytag, I would give my you a report on it once I'm back -God's willing- .. :)

There was a program on the "man-eating" lions of Kruger

This is horrible Maytag, and again, it's a man made tragedy .. the output of Dead Men activities as Kars said .. :( .. I hope Humanity wakes up so soon and then it would turn into a Heaven on Earth life .. hopefully sooner, coze it's too much already !
