I do both freediving and scuba. I travel a lot and unfortunately I like to do a lot of diving as well. It gets expensive renting equipment all the time but it's also a pain in the ass to take equipment. I actually travel with my mask/snorkle + long freediving fins. I'd like to also carry an exposure suit with me, since with that I'll be able to at least freedive wherever I go. Something like a 5mm equivalent, but the problem is that suits are just too bulky and also kinda heavy for traveling with (I've got gear for other activities as well).

Are there any kind of space-age exposure suits out there that I don't know about that could alleviate my traveling woes?

Or really compact and light freediving fins - like maybe ones that can collapse down? I can unscrew the blades off of mine but the space savings are minimal.

Suits will be lighter with more bubbles in the neoprene. More bubbles means less neoprene and less weight. It will also be warmer, but only at shallow depths, because more bubbles also means it will compress more when you go deep.

For fins, I've been developing these fins that are completely modular. They can break down enough to fit them in a carry-on bag if you want. At 4.5 pounds for the pair, they are also fairly light.

I don't know what kind of suits you usually use, but the freediving suits with open cell against the skin are a lot warmer than the generic scuba suits. That means you can get the same level of warmth with a thinner, lighter and less bulky suit.
