Hi,

I've got to re-rig my gun (bungee broke and my MacGyver fix won't last for long). I'm currently using a braid line that came with the gun but having read around, people seem to prefer the other options. I don't want to make endless mistakes (I'm a pro at buying the wrong stuff for spearfishing) so, do I go for..

Cressi Multifilament
or
Cressi Nylon

And what's the difference? I've got some 1.4mm multifilament from when I first got some stuff from Anthony but is that a bit thin? Should I be using 1.8mm or 2mm so that the line can take some wear and tear before I lose my spear? The above two links also give no thickness info so I'm a bit stuck...I could just plumb for one...but I know I'd get it wrong!

From those links they both look like monofilament to me!
Anyway you can use braided nylon line or mono, nylon you tie with knots, mono you use crimps.
Nylon is supple & mono is stiff, the main difference is in the tangle stakes, mono being far less likely to tangle.
I bulk buy from fishing tackle shops, clear 1.5-1.8mm is what I use for double wraps of line & 2mm for night diving!

Cheers. Bulk buying sounds good. So it's any mono that's 1.5-1.8mm thick?

What are double wraps and why do you use thicker line for night diving I'm intrigued?

Double wrap is the standard on most guns of 90 + it just the length of the line as you double wrap the barrel length.
2 mm single wrap for night diving because it wont tangle, ever tried untangling line in the dark! Also fish are shot at very close range a bit like shooting fish in a barrel!
Lots of guys use 2mm on all their guns.....some guys use 1mm dyneema. I have my 90 airgun rigged with 1.5 dyneema!

Cheers for the info foxfish. I've got the crimp tool coming....now to get some line, crimps and a bungee.

BB, in case it helps, you can use strimmer line from B&Q. it comes in 30m packs of 1.5mm and is cheap too. just another option and what i use.
