I like to listen to reggae during the car ride. Try Stick Figures, Bob Marley(the best), also another great song is into the ocean by Blue October, not Reggae but whatever. Hope this helps a little =]

Some of mine

-Air, lefem de argent (or something like that, its on the moon safari album)
-massive attack, tear drops
- xavier Rudd any song he is brilliant
- John Butler Trio

that kinga stuff anything chilled out that reminds me of sunny days and the beach.

It depends on my mood, but I would normally listen to one of these cd’s starting for the last 30 to 45 minutes before warmup:

Kraak en Smaak (a dutch group), Plastic People
Massive Attack, Mezzanine / 100th Window
The Necks, Sex
Miles Davis, Kind of Blue
Radiohead, OK Computer
Air, Moon Safari

All are quite relaxing, at least for me anyway

-Incubus
-Fort Minor
-Dave Matthews
-Metallica
-Stavesacre

These actually Relax me. There are more but I don't want to get 'writers cramp'.

This should actually be moved to "Beach Bar"

SCOTT!! Dave Mathews?? Oh man. I'm not sure I can dive with you anymore...

I can "escape" with any music on my ipod, but stuff that does not jump my heart rate would be Comedy from Mitch Hedberg, Pablo Fancisco, Todd Barry, Dane Cook, Dave Attel. I can pretty much imagine I'm in the crowd watching rather than being where I am at the time. Music, I'm not a HUGE music driven person but: Najee, Seal, some Kravitz, a few Tony Toni Tone songs, Dizzy Gillespie, Louie Armstrong, Miles Davis.... I can listen to them before diving without feeling all jumpy and amped

Not exactly what you were looking for in Top 5, but I just put calm music on and hit shuffle or I listen to comedy. A lot of times though, I have nothing playing, just quiet. The music is only if there is more distraction and I need to tune things out.

Yeah Seal. There are a couple of songs that are good to listen too. Mainly cause they make me think of his wife and her V.S. ads. I just ran through my main music folder and picked out artists who have slower tunes. I'll have to put a freediving playlist together though. Most of the time I'm going diving I'm in a car alone and have nothing on, just quiet.

Plenty of people can play the guitar, does not make them good to listen too. DMB, man you need a purse to go with your wetsuit now Scott rofl A guy I work with is into death metal, his wife likes DMB. He had to go over to Indy for a concert with her, it about killed him. I'll pretty much listen to anything except country and newer rap. Not a fan of Alysia Keys whinning loud "style" either.

Marley is another one I listen too.

"Touch my bum" CHEEKY GIRLS
"I'm a Barbie Girl" AQUA
"Never gonna give you up" RICK ASLEY

actually that song 24 by jem has been on my playlist a lot lately.. first heard it on the "freediving on youtube" thread.. digg it a lot!.

Sorry ILDiver, i left myself logged on and my wife put the message up...honest!

I prefer choones like....
Kermet & Miss Piggy (love song)
Anything by Shena Eastern
Orvil (the green duck)

Im a big fan of Carbon Based Lifeforms. I usually listen to their music at work. No real lyrics or beat. Just a nice ambient and relaxed mood they create with their music. You can listen to some samples of their music at Carbon Based Lifeforms ? Listen free at Last.fm Both their albums are awesome, though "Hydroponic Garden" is a bit more relaxed (and probably better suited for what you search) than "world of sleepers"

McCordia, I had to download the album from iTunes. Thanks. I threw together a quick playlist in iTunes for my pod. I have an H2OAudio case for my pod too for when I swim.

il i agree with you on carbon based life forms quality
off to my i tunes they are going
have a listen to, table they collaborate with einaudi on one of his albums

oh and i did not know you can get underwater cases and earphones for ipods you have just made my day
i am exited and my wife is looking at me as if im some sort of crank

They are cases for swimming. Only good to like 3m. They did make one for the iRiver that could go to 100ft. The headphones were bulky and clipped to the mask straps. But for a surface swim or an extended breathup, they will work. H2O Audio -- Waterproof Your iPod
