HI, just registed tody since I need some advice to choose a C4 fins. I am 1.82m tall and 83kg. mainly dive 20m depth spearfishing, lots surface swiming.I have been use a DiveR fin for the last 2 years(medium), they are great but some time I found my ankle can not handle it(I have injure on both my ankle due to play basketball):crutch.unlucky I lost my diveR fins recently:head. so I think it is time to move on carbon fins, brought a beuchat mundial carbon two weeks ago and used for two dives(since their foot pocket are real nice),found they are very good expecially give me huge power at bottom to return to surface.:martial.but the angle between foot pocket and blade make my ankle hurt again。 so I am thinking buy a pair of c4 fins since I spent whole day on this formu and think the c4 maybe the best carbon fin on the market. I think I may be choose 25 or 30 hardness fin, but I have no idear which fin shap to choos. the Mustang3 and 81 Vgr's shape looks quite like diveR, and the Fuego not. what is the difference and I found 81 Vgr I only can choos 25 hardness. 81 Vgr may quite long for spearfishing but My diveR fin are very long fin as well I have no issue using it in fact i found it make me more relex when I returen to surface by doing less kicks.I also notice c4 fin blade are very narrow compare with diveR blade, what defference of it???, doen it effect fin technic?
I am living in New Zealand Wellington, any one can tell me how can I buy the C4 fin in a better price plz PM me.

many many thx:blackeye

Re: Mustang or Fuego VGR or 81Vgr

I really like my Mustang 30's- with the flap on the end. I used to own a pair of (non-mustang) 80's and they were my favorite pair of fins ever. I sold them to buy a better monofin, but wish I would have kept them and sold off an extra speargun instead. :head If you don't mind the length, I'd go for the softer blade of the 81's- especially for long surface swims.

On a side note, I sprained my ankle a couple of years ago while ice skating. :crutch I needed to use my ankle brace over my wetsuit for a whole summer before my ankle was strong enough to go without. I was able to fit the brace in the Mustang footpockets without issue. Having said this, I should tell you that I could use my monofin without an ankle brace right from the start! One strong ankle can help balance out a weak ankle if you're up to using a monofin. I don't know what kind of diving you're doing, but a monofin might be something else to look at. If it's not your style of diving, then go with the 81's or the 25's.

Just my $0.02

Jon

thx for the advice and take time read my bad english.I got a chance try a old model mustang 30's(not the T700 carbon) in the poor.I found they are super soft and the blade is narrow.I believe it will be nice to use them for surface swim without hunting my ankles.the disign of c4 foot pocket are nice, the angle make my foot very comfortable and hlep swim in streamline.I will buy a mustang modle only because the blade is 42mm longer than the fuego VGR. the only problem is actully I think 30's is quite soft for me..I realy want to try a 40's see the difference between 30'and 40.

I have both Mustangs and 81, and find that the 81 are way too soft, the Mustangs much more reactive. Other problem with the 81 is the size of the blade (if you travel).

I took my mustangs to 60+m, and spearfish in 20m of water quite frequently. I use the stiffness #40, but it's quite heavy on the ankles, so if you prefer softer blades go for the 30.

thx tcrusson. call the c4 supply in the country today. they only have one pairs in the store and only offer one year Warranty and they said it going take at leat a month to get it. I rather just buy two pairs 30's and 40's online. see the difference and sell one pair.(since their price double the on line price, and I still do not get chance experence difference between 30's and 40's)

last noob question about the ankle. if I put the c4 blade into a beuchat footpocket. is the ankle stay in the same? in the other words, if I put c4 blade in to beuchat, do they still have the same angle?? the nice ankle base on the blade or the footpocket? many many thx

pay attention, Mustang blades fit only Mustang footpockets!

I would go for the 30's....40's are more reactives but not good for long ditances...

bye, Andrea
