Ling cod and rockfish will be the main take for this steel slinger, hopefully soon, but as I'm a very rough 7hr drive from the coast, and gas is now 110 a liter ($3.80 a gallon) it may be a while before she sees some salt...

I used to dive with a twinset too, we had to climb down the side of quarries to dive with them, the Dorethea when it was half empty and the Fron, a real cliff face Get some exersise in and stop moaning rofl Cor! these youngsters today dont know their born rofl

Hey Willer, I'm so glad you are happy with the Master America. It is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship for sure with lot's of attention to detail. The guy who designed the gun, Marco Pisello, is an architect by trade and loves to hunt u/w and on land and lives in a beautifully restored Chateau on the outskirts of Milan. If you saw his house you would see why this guy is such a perfectionist with lot's of attention to details. His wife is a pretty good cook too

I install all the bands and wishbones and shafts myself on every Master America that comes in and out of here before shipping. Depending on the preferences of the customer the bands and shaft combinations change. I would try it without the weights in the front first, with the float inserted, and later on experiement with the lead inserts. What I think you'll really like is the balance in the water, in my opinion, the most well balanced gun I have ever used. When you stick it out and aim it's very stable and the shock from the bands doesn't influence the movement of the gun. I think you'll like it even better when you use it.

Yesterday I was shooting my 130cm in the pool, I was aiming from the shallow end at a water jug suspended 6ft off the bottom placed exactly 20ft away in the deep end. With the single stock 18mmx32cm rubbers and a 9/32" (7.1mm) hawaiian sharkfin shaft it was hitting it cleanly in the middle every shot. That's almost 7 meters wth one band...Here's a fish I shot last week with my 100, 10cm more than yours.

Sweet gun! I was lucky enough to have a 130 MA on loan for a little awhile. Like Mark said, good pointer and a great feeling gun in the water. I needed weights in mine though. It floated muzzle up with the shaft in it. 6 of those little lead weights did the trick for me. I'd start out like Mark said first though. Mine was a 130 cm so it had a lot more wood to it. Unfortunately, my loan time ended before I got to do much shooting with the gun (new baby, hurricanes, spearfishing Nationals, underwater hockey Nationals, etc, etc, etc…). From the little bit of time I did get to spend with it, I'm sure you're going to love it. Definitely let us see some pics of a fat lingcod or 2 whenever you make it to the coast.

P.S. – I like the single fat band set-up!

I use 32cm 18mm bands on my 110 with 6.25 shaft, may be thats why i am not confident about shaft speed. Unfortunatelly our dealer here does not stock 28 cm bands, however i ruin the shafts even with 32cms too rofl Its not good idea to shoot in caves with 110 rofl

At the risk of teetering off topic, i also use halcyon gear-single tank pioneer 45 and other kit. It was well worth the wait and expense. I just got a quote from Eddie on the same gun-its a little steep for me right now. This teak version will not be distributed in europe either :waterwork

I have a smaller 90cm gun I normally use for caves but if I am carrying my 130cm gun with 2 16mm rubbers and spot a good fish in a cave i still shoot it sometimes I will unload 1 rubber but if I have 1 or 2 rubbers loaded and it looks like spear will hit rock behind fish I choke the rubbers- use left hand (if your right handed) and grab the rubbers about half way up the barrel of the gun and hold them tight against the gun barrel now you have half the power .
It has worked for me so far try this technique a few times on fish in the open to prove it works and get used to performing it before belting your spear into a cave.-but for me I only shoot good fish in caves average fish I try to get out in the open another thing you can do for caves is use a heavy shaft and prangers.

Scott, thanks for trying and I also wish that you'd had more of a chance to get some real conditions in. The day after you shipped it to Hatteras the guys from Bermuda used it and shot those fish in the Hatteras Open thread. Considering they were only used to pole spears any gun would have probably worked for them but they really enjoyed the power of a big gun over a pole spear.

poacher, i have 80cm gun for caves but genreally i took one of my gun with me....I know that choking method. I saw in videos but i had very bad experiance recently with wisbone so i don't trust those little sneaky "cutters" any more. If its a fish of spear, it will be a fish for me..

My single rig is a Halcyon SS plate and a #36 pioneer wing, love it. will never dive anything else again. BP & Wing is where it's at

I forgot that some people still use those metal wishbones , I have gone to the dyneema bridles on my guns much easier on the fingers if you ever get hit also easy and cheap to make
