My project is finished (almost, some details on the line release system isn´t fully configurated yet).

Trigger mech, spear and rubber is bought from Totem sub.

All black details on the gun is ebony wood, cut intom teak wood with knife.

Trigger guard and line attachment details are made from a barbeque fork and bicykle wheel spoke.

Four layers of epoxy and two layers of transparent car paint, sprayed on.

Thanks to You who have been giving me advices for making the gun!

well done!!! always good fun to see and let everyone on all the forums know about your new gun. I am sure you already have plans for a next one;)

If that was your first gun dude - cant wait to see the next one. :)

very beautiful gun indeed

Is it a 90cm gun? And btw, why did u only restrict urself on making the muzzle adapts to only 1 band?

regards

wow amazing. mad skill. agree with getawayfk maybe opening more holes for bands would be good for longterm hunting and easy power ups.

great looking gun. nice details.

Thank you for the feedback!
The decision to make one hole came when I spoke to a person about how much power that I will need for the kind of spearfishing I have in mind. He thought that a single 17 mm band would be perfect, and I was totally new in this field so I did as he told me. Whem I start to use I will find out if that was a good decision. I will mostly use it in lakes and rivers for pike, bream and perch.

The main reason for me to build the gun was the plaeasure of working with my hands. But I hope that the gun shoots well too.

And yes, I have SEVERAL plans for new guns. A lot of them came even before I finished this one. The next gone is going to be made of ice hockey sticks, painted, and have some decorative metal details.

It wolud be nice if as many people as possible post pics of there creations!

Ok then I guess that decision about making only 1 hole was right.... I wish you good luck on your first hunting trip. Will be looking forward to seeing the pics :)

Super sweet gun man. BAD TO THE BONE. How much to have one made? Not sure if I have the patience to do it myself, or skill.

O man! I never killed any fish other than carp from my bathtub for Christmas and I am no spearo but I like what I see. This gun is so weel done, looks very professional with attention to details. Varnished wood looks really nice like some trim on a fancy yacht. How many hours did You spend on this project?

Thanks! I haven´t counted the hours and a approximation is hard to do... but it´s a lot.
Maybe I´m going to sell it to the right price, I don´t wanna seem cheap, but of course it wouldn´t be interesting to sell my first gun unless it´s for a relatively large amount, thinking of the many hours and money spent.

I need to try it first at least! :)

First dive with my gun

Today I dived in a small lake to try my gun. It was also my first time spearfishing ever. It worked just fine, just like i hoped it would. I shot two redfinned perches. I also saw a really big pike but unfortunatelly I had just shot a perch so the gun wasn´t loaded.
(To be honest the perches wasn´t that big but I´m gonna eat them of coarse. From now on I will only shoot bigger fish).

It was 18 celsius degrees in the water and I only had a 3 mm shorty wetsuit so I got quite cold after a while. It was so exciting I couldn´t stop diving until after 80 minutes.

Spearfishing is funnier than I thought, and I thought it would be great!
It´s also very rewarding to use my homemade gun.

Now when I have had a chance to try it I think I´m going to sell the gun (to get money to next project, and some food perhaps :)).
Contact me if seriously interested in buying it!

hey, nice work! I finished my gun recently too, I have a post here as well, (My Homemade Speargun). Nice job getting fish your first time out! I'm looking for places to go on the Jersey coast if anyone knows any good spots let me know.

Hey welcome to db frogmansailor.
Jersey coast? It is a big world my friend, do you mean Jersey in the UK?

Haha, no I'm sorry. The New Jersey, USA coast. I had thought about clarifying that before I posted too. Sorry for the ambiguity, and thanks for the welcome!
