It's almost one year that I spearfish in Lake Garda and last Friday I caught my first two fishes with my Cayman HF 95 Camu 3D. In Italian: tinca.
Both of them about 3 Kg:friday.

Nice, Kinky! I'm happy for your outcome. Next has got to be some fat Royal Perch!

BTW: Where did you find the tenches at exaclty in lake Garda? Peschiera? Peschiera where exactly?

Those are Tench - doctor fish as some call them.
Are they edible?

Are they edible?

Not only they are edible: they are really good!

When thenches come out of some tiny muddy pond they do have a really bad taste.
But lake Garda is a fairly big lake of 370 square kilometers, reaching 346 meters of max depth (!). There are currents and tides, the input comes from 77 affluent streams and minor rivers, pouring in the clean water of mountain sources. There is barely any industry along the coastline, so that industrial pollution is near to zero. This is why all the fish in it are good to eat.

Dear Spaghetti :rcard,

I worked hard to find a good spot. I'm sorry but I can't tell you my secrets. That's all!!! :martial

Come here and find your own good locationrofl.

Hugs and Friendship!!!

Tench was much prized on the canal that I fished as a boy. Tench had a reputation for being the best fighting fish. I thought I'd finally hooked one one day as I saw the dark back and golden yellow underbelly as it reeled it in. But when I landed it, my fishing companion (who gained a doctorate researching fish some years later) promptly identified it as a very good (large at 2lb+) Crucian Carp - an unusual fish in those waters, although small ones (the size of fairground goldfish) were known to inhabit a particular small, secluded, local forest pond. For somebody not hoping for a tench, it was an excellent catch but I couldn't help being a little disappointed.

We never ate fish from the canal:yack.
