Hi guys, so years ago i bought a speargun and it worked great but then i started to get curious and take it apart until i had figured out how everything worked. I am now bored with taking it apart and want to build my own. I've done lots of research and know how to do most everything but there is still a couple problems. I have a budget of about $210 and i don't have the machines like a mill, drill press, cnc, planer, etc. Is there a place i can go to get wood and parts for the gun cheaper? and a workshop or something that i wont have to pay to use their machines? maybe im just dreaming here... But im not apposed to any ideas or suggestions. Feel free, Thanks.

hi Carson,

not sure if you have ever heard of these but local Hack spaces exist all over the world and are community own and run workshops. i think it started in china where no-one individually could afford equipment but together they can. if you can find one close to you can go along for an open evening once a week or so and if you would like to use there space then you prob need to pay a monthly fee. i think my local one in brighton is £20 a month but you can use there kit.

i know mine will let you have your own key once they trust you and then you have unlimited access.

Each Hack-space will not have everything but if enough people want a new bit of kit they club together, get grants or pay for it out of club funds.

hope that helps/ there is one near you
