Nice Flathead (Southern Sandy perhaps) if I'm not mistaken, good eating but watch out for the bones apparently.
Congrats mate... first ones always the best?

A dusky flathead. Yes very excited with my catch, and my wife cooked it up beautifully.

Well done on the fish mate, stoked for you. That's a good size fish for a first one, good shooting and keep up the good work

Have some rep

Rex Hunt used to go mad for a bit of flathead, how did you avoid the sharp edges?

I find a good grip on the face or base of the tail seems to help.

that is really nice fish to eat, I used to look for it and catch it from time to time it is difficult to spot it as it lay down in the sand, but one spotted it is easy to pin it, congratulation.

Yeah I agree there GTI!! In so far as when I shot at this guy another one only cm's away darted away and I hadn't even seen it!!
