I used a sling for the first time this past weekend and had a blast- not as good with it as I am with my gun, but it was a lot more fun in the clear water. I didn't' have too many issues with hitting my target, but I did have some with the shaft going straight through the fish and into the weeds.:head

I've since rectified the problem and here's some pictures of my new sling. I got the idea for the TAG line off of the Retrosub site. I talked with Cdavis about how to rig the sling- which is why it's a standard sling with the rubber facing back wards. He's been suing slings for decades and knows what he's talking about - so I listened. :) By flipping the rubber it gives you a more stable hand hold so you don't need any extra pieces of wood glued on- which also makes it cheaper. :friday

I drilled out a hole in an old Cyrano shaft and attached a line to it. It worked for the first 4 fish until the line snapped. This happened because I had it attached too close to the flopper and the flopper cut through it pretty fast- live and learn.:blackeye I used a standard shaft for the rest of the weekend (thanks to ILDiver) and had pretty good luck with it- limited out both days.

I started to drill a hole in the new shaft, which was specifically made for slings, but it wasn't working out so I just popped off the flopper and ran the mono through that hole. It seems to work and I'm not worried about anything coming off that end of the spear. I think that I will try and order some shafts by the end of the summer from Ray Odor with a second hole pre-drilled about 12"-18" behind the flopper head- which seems to be about the best attachment point that I've figured out so far.

If all goes as planned I may throw all the spearguns up for sale in the next month or so- if it doesn't then they will stay put and I won't talk about it anymore to anyone. rofl
