I just bought this new speargun (it is the rabitech stealth carbon) and I don't know what type of reel would fit best on this gun? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I plan on hunting Southern California and hope to get 100feet of 2.5mm line on it.

Thanks, ken

I think you made an outstanding choice for a SoCal gun and I'm sure you'll like the way it shoots. Other than to suggest checking with Eric at Sumora about the Rabitech reel, I can't really make an educated reel suggestion, but I bet Bill Mac. can...
Ron.

Sporasub instinct works pretty good on an RA (very similar gun) if you dont mind drilling a couple holes in the barrel. Pretty inexpensive as well

Not that I'll ever be accused of owning a euro gun, but the reels from Omer are great and they have the mounts so you don't need to blow holes in your barrel. Yeah, they're not cheap, but at this level, going cheap is well... cheap.

How's the vessel doing, Boyd? SB was a bust.

I have a rabitech 110 apex with ali barrel. Great guns, heres a link to their website they are very helpfull, here in sa atleast, so they mite be able to direct you to someone or help you over the net http://www.rabitech.com/ :)

Hiya

The Rabitech Pelagic reel is constructed from glass reinforced nylon. Very solidly built reel. The nicest thing about it is that it will work well on guns under 90cm's, as the reel is neutrally bouyant. On smaller guns, many will sink with the spear out of it when a reel is fitted to it. Mine holds about 100 yards of 3mm line. http://sumora.com/shop.php# Chat to Erik, very helpful and knowledgable guy!! Sure he'll be able to assist!!

The Omer Pelagic 100 is made from aircraft grade alluminuim. Very robust construction and will also hold about 100' of 3mm line. I have one fitted to my 115cm Rabitech Carbon Apex and its my favourite set-up!!
http://www.omerdiving.com/catalog.aspx?category=9 Drop Mark Labocetta a email or pm. Another very experienced spearo and a very helpful guy!!

The Rob Allan reel is made from stainless steel. MUCH thinner and lighter than the Omer Pelagic. Also holds about the same amount of line. This reel is made to be mounted horizontally, whilst the other two are made for vertical fitment. My 120cm Carbon RA has one on, and it also works very well!! https://www.flfreedivers.com/ Speak to Mike Damms. Yet another very helpful and experienced spearo!!

Another option is the new Aimrite reel. I don't own one, but from the picture's and Aimrite's reputation, its will work brilliantly!! I'm sure Bill Mc. will chip in to give you a detailed review of his aimrite reel, as well as all the others!!:D:D http://www.aimritehawaii.com/accessories.php

Sadly though, no matter which reel you acquire, you will still have to drill holes in your barrel!! All of mine were done by the manufacturers, and i can give you exact measurements of how far back to drill the holes, so as not to damage the barrel plug!!

Regards
miles

:crutch Cant beleive that a guy that drinks skim milk lattes wont shoot a euro gun:)
Vessel is doing pretty good, my problem is getting a day free of responsibilities to go use it. Wanted to head south on an upcoming expedition, but that got vetoed. Might be up in your neck of the woods somtime after thanksgiving, will ring ya.

Hey it keeps the waistline down so I can fit in Euro cut pants. Abs are history end of the month and I'm heading NE for holidays.

Rabitechs are solid guns, only thing bad is lack of a good horizontally mounted reel and bracket. Maybe in the works. I ended up putting a Omer universal reel on mine. You have to cut a section out of your track with a dremel and be very careful when doing this so you don't cut the carbon fiber. Mine works great and the reel holds 100 ' of 2mm spectra line. I probably will upgrade it to the match sport when it becomes available, I hope the brackets are the same width. Also have a Higa open muzzle on my 120. Heres some pics. Peace out
