I'm new to freediving/apnea. I've been practicing at the local pool, and want to get out to the reserviour here soon. However, the water is freaking cold here in Colorado, so I need to get a wetsuit.

Denver actually has a fair amount of dive shops for being a land locked area. However, I am not finding them to be a good resource for anything other than scuba. Yesterday I went into a shop and mentioned I want to freedive and spearfish, and he was adamant that a 5mm suit was way to thick and would require way too much lead, but then went on to talk about how cold the water is. It just seams that the local shops don't have the knowledge about freediving to be of much help for a newb like myself.

So I'm looking for my first wetsuit. I'm just starting out and live nowhere close to the ocean. All the water around here is cold, but it does get warm enough in the late summer to swim without a wetsuit. Because I'm new, I don't want to spend a lot of money for my first wetsuit. I don't care if it's camo or black. I,m just looking for some advice on the best "starter" wetsuit.

IDK, maybe I need to spend a little more money even though I'm just starting out. My opertunities to dive here in Colorado are somewhat limited, and the cost and logistic of making it to the ocean are out of reach right now. (going back to school plus have 4 kids!) Anyway, thanks in advance for any help and advice.
