I'm planning a trip to the DR for the end of June, and will be staying near Punta Cana. Me and my wife are pretty new to diving. We would prefer to do some beach diving rather than from a boat. Does anyone know of a dive site for us. (were not interested in going deeper than 50 feet) What about a dive shop around the area to rent some equipment/ get advice? Thanks..

I dived in Dominican Republic a few years back we done a couple of shore dives from Sosua but that was part of a course! Most dive centres will be able to rent equipment & recommend some shore dives for you though it's probably better & safer if you go on a guided dive orientation on your first couple of dives in a new area as the local dive centres will know the dive sites inside out ie best entry/exit points potential hazards etc.

Some of the boat dives i done in the Dominican were only 10 or 12 mtrs so theres plenty of sites if you fancy trying a boat dive while you're there.

Dressel Divers Club Have several dive centres in Dominican including one in Punta Cana friends of mine dived with one of their other centres in the Dominican and were happy with the equipment & instructors.
