Need help with breath hold

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

I need some help with my breath hold i am kinda new at freediving my breath hold was at 3min i could not get passed it. but i just broke my 3mins i hit 3:18 now i need some help i dont know if i should just take it up by 15sec or just hold my breath for is long as i can and push my self this is dry not wet thanks:)
 
Hi depthseeker, welcome to DB.

You will find a weath of info here. Learn to use the search function (top of page), check out the Beginner freediving section. Read a bunch, experiment with what you learn, the ask some more questions. Three minutes plus is a great begining.

I'm a competitive freediver with over 20 years of freediving spearfishing experience in the Caribbean, Bahamas and Florida. I highly recommend that you use a respiratory trainer as part of your land based training. Use it on a regular basis, and I guarantee you will increase breath hold time by 20% or better. The most widely used by South Florida divers is the Expand-A-Lung which goes for under $30 in all the dive local dive shops that cater to freedivers.
Tip: Do a set on the boat, right before you enter the water.
