I am looking to buy a pair of Pathos foot pocket. I have a pair of Sporasub ( the one with a blue blade that is rounded at the end, I know it is a bit ancient :) ) size 40-42 and wear it with a very thin socks. Please let me know if Pathos pockets are just as broad as my Sporasub and what size should I order. Thanks in advance.

if its helps, pathos 40-42 is 255mm long and 98mm wide (measured on the base at the widest part)

Thanks KK, for your input. now I know it will probably be too small. If it is not too much to ask what is the measurement for the next bigger size?

Dunno about the sporasub Joseph but if it's any help:

My feet are 27.5 and 28.5 cm long = 44/45 EU shoe size

Pathos 44/46 are perfect with 2.5/3mm sock

I like my fins tight

Pathos 44/46 are same size as Cressi Gara Professional LD 46/47

I have 2 pairs of fins. One with Spora 40-42 and other with pathos 40-42,and both are perfect same fit.
Pathos is a bit wide.

Thanks KK, for the measurements. looks like 42-44 is the best fit for me and if doesn't, all I need to do is to wear socks.
Thanks Mrjomac and Rafacautic for your imput as well. Merry Christmas and a great New Year.

One more thing that might help.

I bought Moana blades with Pathos pockets in the same size as my Picasso Black Teams pockets, and the fit was the same except that the pocket was too shallow in the front, and squeezed my metatarsal heads. The guy who makes Moana told me that this was fairly common. On his suggestion, I put on an extra 2 mm sock over my normal 4 mm sock and jammed my foot in. Then I used a heat gun on the low setting to heat the top of the pocket, then let it cool with my foot in it. Now I have custom left and right pockets that fit perfectly. I'm told that a hair dryer works too.

Thanks Bill for advice, that will be very helpful if I find it too tight. Cheers.

KK, just to confirm, are the measurements you gave internal in nature, meaning it does not include the thickness of the foot pocket.
Thanks.

Dear diver,

I hope its still on time to help you or anyoneelse who's looking to fit pathos footpockets.
I use them for years, and can tell you to go for a number upper you use any other brand footpockets (with 3mm socks) and use the bigfer pathos with 5mm socks. This way they are confortable and very efficient. Otherwise they wont be confortable at all.
In my case, Mares or Omer stingrays 43-44 pockets are perfect with 3 or 2 mm socks, and I use pathos 44-46 with 5mm socks and they are so good, confortable and the best pockets I ever tryed. So good luck my friend!
I now have 2 annax and 2 carbonteks mounted on those pockets.
If you wanna hear more people with lots of experience with those pockets, go to the medforum and you will find it.
And do not use anything but first quality glue: try something like loctite 406 (best) or 201 , or sico met 8300. They worth the price.

Josephchiam,

Answering your question, just go to the 42-44 size and you will be very happy.

I'm a size 8.5 EEE street shoe and fit a 40-42 Pathos with a 2mm bootie perfectly.

It's snug, but excellent response and once it broke in to my foot, very comfortable.

For me, a 5mm neoprene sock is too much to expect good response. That's 1
Cm of padding around your foot before the compliant rubber footpocket.

Dear Apneaddict,

I undesrstand you feel unconfortable with that. I felt the same way. With my stingrays and also with my mares pockets y found the 2 mm socks the best, after trying many different thin socks.
But if you go to pathos, you should try 5mm. I can not explain, it just works.
Also, with pathos the best is to have the pockets tide, not a bit loose, but if you use 3mm socks it will be very unconfortable this way, aftr a long training or a long spearfishing journey.

I think the answer to your question about power transmittion is to use 5mm socks with nylon inside (dont slip) and rubber outside, as the spettons 5 mm I just bougth in spain, its rubber against rubber, and can not get any better.

If you are not sure, go to medforum and look for this tread, you will find many people from the mediterranean sea with experience to sher about it.

Pathos have strange sizing, i just recieved my pathos frireblade in size 36/38 and they are much wider then my omer millenium 38/40 even with a 5mm sock. I will have to try out fin keepers. If you are buying online its best to stick to a foot pocket that u have already tried.

Thanks Allreis, just the size I was thinking of especially having 3-5mm socks in mind.
My 40-42 Sporasub (H Dessault F/P) goes nicely with thin lycra socks but when tried with 3mm socks it is too tight.

Hi, Apneaddict. I'm size 8.5 or 9 (different brand), length by width is 265mmx98mm, which size of the pathos do you think is good for me? I dive in warm water with socks. I tried my friend's 42-44, which I felt like 275x110mm, but David insisted the 42-44 is 265mmx100mm. Will the 40-42 be too wide for me? You are EEE and I am perhaps D? Cheers.
