Hi :)

I'm shopping for a low volume mask, trouble is I got more than my share in the nose department, not hooked or high bridged, just large :)

just wondering which of these masks would have the biggest nose pocket.

Aqualung Sphera Mask (are plastic lenses a problem?)

Omer Abyss Mask

Cressi Matrix Mask

Thanx

Plastic lenses scratch - and Spheras tend to leak over time.
I've a bunch of them, and have repaired them with clear silicone calk.

The lenses also sometimes correct to around 1.5 diopter - which bothers some people (not all of them do this - I think the newer ones may not.)

The omer masks tend to have small nose-pockets (they scrunch my nose up - like when you try to make a pig-face) unless you go with the Zero3 or sporasub mystic - the zero3 tends to hit many people along the brow line. The Mystic is very comfortable and a good mask.

The Cressi Matrix is great - particularly if you don't go much beyond 60 feet or so since it does have a bit of volume.

Another suggestion is the Technisub Micromask. Good nose room - but not as soft as the Mystic.

I've used all of the above personally. Now I use the sphera exclusively (because it corrects my vision underwater and rocks for deeper diving) but I have a scrip matrix and use the micromask if I'm wearing contacts.

My problem is high bridge but Beuchat makes a very good mask with excellent viz, fairly low volume and ample nose pocket. There is a knock-off of the Mondial that may be just as good.

Thanx for the replies :)

that's quite a collection Fondueset :)

Do you mean the beuchat micromax Bill? nice looking mask.

it's starting to look like the matrix might be the best choice, I won't be diving deeper than 12 feet till after I get some dive training probably next spring and I tend to be hard on gear so scratchable lenses are probably not a good idea :)

I got looking at the spirit 2, prescription lenses sound nice, I'm much more interested in enjoying the view than pushing the limits :) looks like a fairly popular one size fits all mask, has anybody had experience with it?

mirco mask or the m99 from ist is the best for big honkin noses

Thanx kwtony, the micro is a bit out of my price range, but the Ist m99 goes on the list for sure :)
