ok jokes apart your request is too generic: where's the problem?
Are you of particularily stout or thin build? Whats the average depth you plan to dive? Water temp?
I think that any open cell 5mm wetsuit should keep you afloat (then you can play around with weights tuning the ideal boyancy per depth).
I see that you're in the UK: a 5 millimeters may be okay for you all year round. A 7mm will definitely solve your negative buoyancy concern, but it's likely to make you sweat in the hottest months of summer.

I am also negatively buoyant in a swimming pool, i dont think it really matter as when you've got yer sweatsuit and balanced you/it with lead you can sort it all out. the wetsuit+lead are more significant than your own buoyancy variation.

Noob question regarding bouyancy...

Without a wetsuit I'm positive on a full, unpacked breath but I get negative around half capacity. Definitely negative at FRC. I'm thinking that a 3mm LS shorty will make me positive at FRC, but a little too positive on a full breath.

Is there a non-trial-and-error method for determining what weight to start with on your belt?

Breathe in more air!!

I think you should first learn how to take a really good inhale of air before working out your buoyancy. There is much written here, but in one smooth progression, drop your diaphragm (looks like sticking out your stomach but should feel different), then fill your chest fully, then at last "shrug" your shoulders to fill your upper airways. Crap explication, sorry...
