Neoprene sock with seal

This may be an idiotic question but...

I have these socks:

i'm thinking that I should roll up my suit and tuck the top of the sock underneath it but I have seen other guys putting the sock on the outside. Does putting the sock underneath give any benefit?

I'm diving in fairly cold water (8 degrees) so I'm looking for anything that will help me keep warm. I have even considered wearing latex dry socks under my neoprene ones.
 
I've found that if I put my socks over my wetsuit when I dive down it let's water in. So I always tuck then under my wetsuit and never have any problems with cold water (6 degrees plus).
 
I have exactly those socks, I always put the socks under the suit. My thinking is that the outer smoothskin of the sock should seal against the internal smoothskin of the suit. Also, if your socks are on the outside of the suit they'll fill up if (when) you p155 in your suit...

I always wear them inside except when I launch a paddle board off the beach and then you'll pick up sand and have it in the sock all day. Also, if you put a tiny slit at the end of the toe it will let out air and 'liquids' but act as a one-way valve to stop cold water from getting in.
 
Thanks guys this makes sense.

Now I am wondering if I should do the same with my neoprene gloves but there's no seal on those...
 
I just put the gloves over the top of my suit as its easier and again when you dive down your wetsuit won't open up at the wrists to let water in.
