Hi everyone. Just wanted to thank you all for the advice. I've been crawling the boards obsessively for info and it's been enormously helpful. While I'm posting though, I'm probably going to be purchasing the cressi 2000 or 3000 fins. Which do you recommend for a beginner who's used to snorkeling fins?

Thanks!

Welcome from Texas! Hope you don't have hobbit feet like mine! :blackeye It's really hard to find fins &/or booties that are wide and thick enough. Got a good set now but would hate to have to replace them. Spear straight and dive safe.

Hi mate,

Cressi 2000 or 3000 are both good fins. For a beginner Gara 3000 LD are good enough.

You have to choose soft fins.

All the best,

KK

Also Mares has good fins for beginners.

Think about it.
Mares: Razor

Mares Razor Pro are pretty good and only 64 Euro at scuba store. I like them better than Gara 2000.

Cressis are generally for narrow feet, so if that works for you, then great! The LD3000s are generally better for beginners, while the others are more of a stiff competition fin. The other recommendations here are good, too :)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll keep the 3000s in mind, but I don't exactly have narrow feet. I'm probably going to have to head to the Free Dive Shop and try on a few pairs then and see what works.

See if there's some way to try the fins first. There's more to a good fit than footpockets, and an excessively stiff blade can be painful and tiring. Those are usually something to be worked up to. In the case of the Cressis, the 3000HF is a stiff blade, while the 3000LD is for long distance or comfortable all-day use.

Good luck, and have fun!
:D

im sure if you can hook up with some other freedivers you will get the chance to try out different gear belonging to them
so dont go for the ideal fins and stuff now. get some buget stuff just incase
good luck and welcome

Dear mechanik,

Cressi 3000 LD or Mares Razor Soft will be the best for you.

Believe me.
