Hey all, just went diving here in Okinawa and hit a new best for myself. 31ft . May not seem like much to yall but that is big for me given I haven't done much diving and the week before I got to 27ft. A lot of my progress has come from what I read on hear. So thank you all for your help and knowledge.

It's great to surpass our own PB no matter what the number is. But more important is to safely come back to reality, hope You have good safety support, do You?

cheers

Thanks for the link I shot them an email. I do have a good support network. I would like to take a class to add to my knowledge base and it would add to the safety of it.

good job it always feels great to beat your old best!!

i bet you will be able to beat that right away to.

its nice when you just start out you can beat your PB's all the time so you always feel good when you leave the water :)

check out Ryuzo SHINOMIYA Official Website <APNEAWORKS . com> ???????????????????????? with Ryuzo SHINOMIYA.

he is an amazing freediver and has a school which may be close enough to attend.

good luck and congratulations!

Thanks for reccomending Ryuzo-san I have emailed him and will feel much better diving after I complete the basic course but it is my b day next month so that will be my b-day present to myself and from my wife. He has responded to all my emails very quickly and seems to be really nice. Most of the Okinawans I have met here are very nice. Can't wait to do this and make some gains and improve my knowledge and improve my diving. Thanks again.

my pleasure, please tell him Simon (me) sent you, I had the pleasure of being his safety diver recently at Vertical Blue 2009. He's a great guy and freediver, and one of the few divers I have ever seen, coming back from a 100M+ dive, who nodded in acknowledgment of my smile as I met him at 30M.

Well looks like I may have to wait to take the class with Ryuzo till Aug. Just not working out with my schedule. I did go spearing with some friends and managed to improve to 47 ft. We managed to get some trevally and a rainbow runner was some good eating too. We were diving at an offsore oil filling point for ships. We would dive down the pylons and turn to the inside of them and spot the fish. The water was 100+ ft the vis sucked bout 20 ft or so but all in all a good day. The swim out and back sucked bout 1/2 mile each way. Blew my hamstring out has never been the same since the first time I did that a couple years back. I do Yoga to help with the stretching and stay limber and I think it helps with the breathing as well and staying relaxed.
