NEW CRESSI FINS (Gara Professional)

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
The Alien fits lots of different face shapes. I wonder how this new mask is for fit? I do love my Alien, but it's always nice to see more

The new mask looks outstanding.

So do the fins, but I'm a little worried about the footpockets. I think they should have used the same ones as for the previous Garas cause it can't get any comfier than that, but we'll see.

Something about the fins. I am sure that cressi has done a good job but as always when they are used in cold water everything will change. Even carbon fiber changes its specification in under 14 .

Don't worry, if the footpockets are actually similar to the ones used in Reaction Pro -fins, they're better than Gara 2000. I have a pair of Gara 2000 HF, a few weeks ago I had a chance to try Reaction Pro, and the footpocket is quite incredible. And the Gara 200 footpocket is already very good... Then again, another friend tried also the Reaction Pro, and in his opinion the Gara 2000 footpocket is more comfortable.

In fact the Gara Professional fins are in Cressi's catalog since many months, but still not on the market, so I wonder when they really come out. Jorg wrote about them already in April 2007 in this post Gara Professional | Shark Freediving (and I cannot exclude there were there even much earlier).

I also asked my local dealer about them, and he claimed he saw them but that Cressi retracted them, because testers found them extremely hard. He told me also that the design is no more like on the photo in the catalog, with the blade fixed on the top of the feet, but just in the conventional way. I was not quite sure if the guy was right or just spreading rumours, but generally he knows freediving equipment quite. In that time I also did not know that the fins were in the catalog since such a long time, but now I begin to suspect there is indeed some problem with them.

If anyone of you has some more reliable news, please post here. I planned to get them (just broke my C4 and don't have funds available for new ones right now), but if the fins are nowhere close to be released or at least well tested, I won't wait and get something else.

Trux, I was enquiring about them today and got kinda mixed results. I was told by the same person (a cressi UK dealer) that they should be avilable in a month or two, but in the same breath that there is no date yet for release and we will not know when.

So hold your breath...no don't hold your breath...hold...yes...no...?????

I´ve seen the fins at the Boot-Convention here in germany. The pair they had were just like on the pictures; footpocket "under" the fin and so on. BUT; they were really really stiff. It´s hard to compare, if you only have the chance to flex the fins by hand. But I guess they come close to the Gara 2000.

A half-update on this...

Cressi are providing me with some gear for the Bahamas comp and the team WCs (assuming I make the team!) I've asked them to send a pair of the Gara Professionals to try. I suspect they may be a little too stiff for me, as I currently use Gara 3000LDs and find them about right. But I'll see how they go. Will try the new mask too, the Minima doesn't fit me all that well.

Dave, did you receive the Gara Professionals before your trip to Bahamas, and did you have the chance to test them? If so, what are your impressions?

Anyone managed to get these fins? It is at least since April 2007 that they are on their catalogue, and it is since many months my local dealer gets promisses from Cressi that they are being shipped within a week or so, but as far as I could find out there are nowhere available.

Gara Professional Fins

Gara Professionals are now available at

I saw these fins here in dubai but they have one piece as sample to be sold and no one bought it!!! i think Gara 3000 is better nothing different in that fins except the place where you put ur foot its like more think and the fin is smaller than 3000 gara

~~pe@ce~~

Are you talking about their actual performance or your perceptions on them?

Do you know someone that has tried them?

My first impression is the Professional is a bit harder then the 3000. Shape differences are minor (1 cm in width and about 2 cm in length). Foot pocket in fingerpart is larger (bad for me).
The main difference is angle between fin's blade and foot pocket (which actually covered by fin's blade). As result both fins and body are on the same line. So, glide in the Professional should be more optimal.

I looked for Gara Professional in the shop and found only advertising.
How much does it cost?

It's coming :crutch
I payed for first sold pair in the Netherlands 149 euro. May be a bit expensive but I don't have time to wait for several euros.
Some photos (vs Gara 3000 and C4 Falcon) :
