New design for shorter gun - any comments ?

I was toying with the idea of making a really short gun based on this concept :

Can anyone offer any advice and maybe design a reel for it. I am thinking that it would be ideal for travel and for destinations where the raw materials would be easily available.

From the photos I believe it would have pretty good penetration too...

I think that the marine equivalent of this gun is the Hawaiian sling. I think that the guys from the US can correct me or confirm me on the name of the gun. The consept though is the same. You insert a shaft in a tube which at the one end has a sling attached. At the middle of the sling there is a wishbone which fits into a notch that is placed at the back end of the shaft. You stretch both the shaft and the sling and you fire the gun by releasing them both.
At least this is how I perseived the function of this gun.

However, I don't think that there is a place in Europe (espesially in the Med) that this kind of gun could deal with the fish. If there is, PLEEEEEASE PM me the whereabouts and I will be for ever in your debt!!!!!!

Oddly enough, my co-workers & I stumbled across that site a few days ago as well. We raided the stationary store & came up with that model & some other variations.

Unfortunately, the "super maul railgun" didn't work up to specs. Good penetration with 3 bands, but linear stability was lacking. Projectile flew relatively straight, but impacted at an angle(i.e. like a plane taking off - going straight, but nose is up)

I just sent my administrative assistant back for more supplies to test further
