New member-freediver from SLO county California

I live in Paso Robles and would like to get back into the freedive game. I have been eyeing San Simeon, Avila, and Hearst beach.
I moved here from the bay area about 12 years ago. I dove extensively on the Sonoma and Mendocino coasts but have not been in the water since moving here. I am really only interested in freediving. My wife and I SCUBA'd up north but we have sold all our gear. Now I am in the process of rebuilding my kit.

gman,
Howdy neighbor! I'm a freediver/spearo in Los Osos. I scuba dive too, but I have been doing more and more freediving lately. I went out last weekend and speared about forty pounds of fish and the viz was great
....although I can't say that's the norm around here. Anyways, I try to dive as much as possible and I'm always looking for people to dive with. What all gear do you have? I have some extra gear too. Hit me up.
Peace,
Kale

Hi Kale,
I have a mask and snorkle, and an old (15 years) Harvy's wetsuit. It's a 7mm and was awesome for scuba but I even got hot in it up north. I think I am going to need a new suit. I have my scuba fins and side zip booties, but am looking to replace both with more freedive appropriate ones. I have weights and I think an ab float around somewhere.

THanks for writing. Where are the good spots? Anything up on the North Coast like out of Cambria, or Cayucous, or even San Simeon? Talk to you later.

Gary

I could not get the photo to work

Hey Im in cambria about 30 min from you.Im right on the beach here and havent made it in the water yet due to lack of a suit. But Hopefully I will be picking up one soon.Im up for checking out hearst beach and san simeon anytime you want.Im in the process of looking for a kayak or some sort of boat. But its looking like we have a few guys in the area now.Welcome

Tim

Tim,
That's great you live so close. And in the "north county" to boot. What size suit do you need? I am about 5'11" ish and was about 180# when my harvey's fit me well. I am about 195 or 200 now so I think I can still get into it, but it may be kind of comical. If you think you could use the suit we can arrange for you to look at it. The only trouble is that then I would need a new suit

lol I wear a 3x.Im 6"3 and 285.LOL marriage does that to ya.But I will just be buying a cheap one for now until I can lose some pounds. You do any spearing at all? That whats im trying to get into.

I know married life, and I love it! Though that is where my extra pounds came from. I did alot of spearing up north. I have a cressi pneumatic spear gun and a pole spear. My spear gun has some sort of pump that you can use to repump your gun but i lost it. Does anyone know of any alternatives???
I would probably get back into spearing if the conditions were right. For now though, I will be happy just sight seeing.

Im looking for a mahogany gun at the moment. No reason really I just like the looks of a wood gun.Im sure if you looked around you could find a new pump for your gun.
