New Fin Models on C4 site

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Ah, the AA stage, or are You in the Italian AA instructors course?
I'll have to talk to the guys in Sharm if they don't need an instructor...

Personally I can't see any benefits at all from the shape of the bi-fins or mono-fins. They seem inefficient. I mean there is a reason fish don't have tails that look like that. I think that they are just trying to make them look unique so people will purchase them just for looks. I would really like to see bi-fins with more natural shapes.

And how do you propose this natural shape to look and work? The carbon blades offer a very fluid motion with a good amount of resistance to push forward with. We can't control muscle and bone in the fin to optimize it's shape to the moment.

Myself and another member of our training group in Los Angeles just picked up our new C4 Monoflap monofins and he also got the 81 bifins.I already own the Mustang 80's and absolutely love them. Our group member did 75m with no prep or breath up and dubbed
the 81's and the Monoflap "incredible" I look forward to getting my Monoflap in the water this week.By the way try not to form an opinion about new gear until you try it because you might be cheating yourself out of something that makes your comfort or performance better! All the best DeeDee

Reactions: spaghetti
As DeeDee's friend with the monoflap... it is quite an amazing fin. The foot pockets are very comfortable, especially compared to my plastic Riffes! And extra length (~100cm from heel to tip) makes the slow dynamic dolphin kick very natural and fluid. I didn't notice any sideslipping tendency; the rails kept the motion very centered. I look forward to trying an actual target with these fins; both the bi-fins and the mono! (And we'll be in Kona next month for some serious depth training!) The biggest problem will be finding a carry-on bag that can hold such long fins; I'll probably have to use a garment bag and hang it in the airplane closet

sanso; Instructor course? No, not me. Haha. I´m doing the stage with Umberto.

As DD said, don't judge if you haven't tried it. You might be cheating yourself.

And the flaps totally make sense. Mind you, the extra flap doesn't provide extra propulsion because it's extra length. The flaps help the length of blade before it bend more efficiently, and that is what provides the extra/more efficient propulsion.

Having fins with a more 'natural' shape may not work well for us, just cause we're not built like fishes/marine mammals. Our muscles and breath hold capabilities are nowhere near them.

i just wish it comes in black or gray instead of the yellow, maybe Nata can fill us in if we can have other colors?

In real they look awesome in yellow. I was thinking of bying wether Fuegos or 81s. At the end, I was more than sceptical because of the color of the 81s. But as I said.... they´re cool.

I have a set of 30flaps. Best fins I have ever had.
The flap adds leverage to the tip of the fin making it work harder.
Seems to work great. I hardly feel like I am kicking.
I have compared them with the falcons and can notice the difference.
With the mono I have not tried it but have played around a little with a few monos , the thing that springs to mind is I doubt it would v fold.
would love to have a play with the mono but i doubt it will be easy getting my hands on one in australia.

If I have to tell the truth..... I decide for yellow color. rofl

Those fins are made just for apnea.
Yellow for safety, I think safety is important, I know that yellow cannot solve the problem, but this is the first step.

I don't know where you live, but in those years I heard about too many accidents...

ciao ciao

p.s. yellow is also FASHION!!! :t

Nata, I support you. I think the yellow is HOT!! Great choice of colour.

And I have ever thought that freediving is about EFFICIENCY... now I see it is all about FASHION rofl

It's not about fashion. As Nata explained it is about safety. And she is right. Often when I am waiting as a safety down on the line for the buddy, I wish he had so well visible fins. Or even better the entire wetsuit!

Nata,

Do you have any more details about the new monofin?

Jon

Ok. Two weeks Sharm el Sheikh with my new C4 81 VGR are done.

These fins are GREAT!!! I wasn´t really sure, if these fins would match my needs. But all my doubts have been killed by those fins.
I´m 1,86 m tall, quite thin, and my muscles are not the the strongest. Compared to my old Gara 3000 LD it´s a whole new diving with this fins.

Surface finning is quite easy with them. Ok, they´re no snorkeling fins. But they´re not supposed to be some. So it´s an extra plus.
The footpockets fit really comfortable. Cressi footpockets are very comfy (for my feet), so I expected no great step ahead. But it´s another world. Really. Ok, they are quite heavy. But the blades are so lightweight, that this doesn´t matter. And as the wheight is near to your feet, you don´t have the feeling of a 90cm attachment to your legs. At the beginning I had to look if the fins are still on my feet, when I wasn´t moving. *g*
Finning into the blue is amazing. As I said, I´m not the bodybuilder under the sun. So now; with a long smooth finning, not to fast, these fins work just great.

The only "problem" I had was the position of my fins compared to the legs. Since I have to get used to the L/R footpockets, I have to move my feet a bit to the outside. Almost like a Charin-Chaplin-Style stand. Otherwise the fins are not parallel while finning, but the tips points to the center, both. And in the week before my course, there was an instructor-course. And four of the guys there, also using the 81 VGR, had the same problem. So I´m quite relaxed, that I need my time to get used to the fins.

After all; I can highly recommend these fins.

And a big THANKS to Nata. She was very patient while answering all of my questions.

Hello Dennis77,

When you mention 90 cm, you mean the blade alone or from the tip of the fins to the heels? That is long!!! Do you think you can use it other than apnea? I know Nata already told us its for apnea only but just with your opinion...just curious. Hows the manuverabilty of the fins?

Thanks

The blades itself have 92 cm length. With mounted footpockets it´s a bit more. I can measure this, if someone wants to know.

The manuverability is good, I think. You know, I didn´t take a closer look to this. But as I didn´t had any problems while moving, even near to the reef with strong waves and current, I don´t miss anything.

What do you mean with using the fins for other than apnea? Scubadiving? I don´t know, if you can use them for this. But I think shorter and stiffer fins would be better. For snorkeling the work pretty well. I used them regularly for snorkeling sessions with my girlfriend.
Spearfishing? I don´t know. I´m not a spearfisher, but as you can buy camo suits and stuff, yellow fins would be contraproductive. Ok, there were some fishes quite curious about my fins. Especially one type, always in a swarm and black/yellow colored, came very close to my fins. *g*

If you can snorkel with your girlfriend with it,its good enough for me,its goin to be fun to use it for spearing, like you said fish are curious with it, so i guess there's a saying now "curiousity killed the fish" hehehehe i have a yellow polespear so i guess having yellow fins will be not much of a hassle since it doesnt come in other colors. Thanks for the reply, really appreciate it. Time to send jimdoe2you some pm's.
