Hi l'm after some advice I currently have a 1100 sparid and am thinking of getting a new gun

The shortlist is riffe euro maybe a 90 Mannysub 90 roller Octosub spearguns. Not sure if they are still available

Any other suggestions, or pros and cons would be great

I'd suggest a roller or invert/fusion gun setup, where you can massively increase power without recoil crushing your hand. Maybe try a HEPA roller configuration or a Fusion 2 config. Such setups allow you to pick whichever gun you want, going by comfortable handle and price, without having to compare performance of traditional setups.

Ok I will look at them. I have never heard of that kind of setup

HEPA is what Seawolf rollers use, also known as "Y" because of the shape the rubbers take. Fusion 2 is similar, with two pairs of bands underneath and one at the top just like in HEPA (but with small rollers for dyneema at the muzzle). You can also try a Fusion 1, with a hard 1x17,5mm pair of rubbers or even 19mm. It's easy to switch if you want to upgrade to Fusion 2 afterward.*

Or maybe you'll find it easier to set up an inverted (polyspast) roller with pulleys, check these out too. I'm suggesting all these because you can up the power with a smaller tube barrel gun without having to add ballast (/or recoil).

*: here you have two options: keep the same setup and just add an extra rubber underneath, in which case you have to add dyneema rope inside the top bands to make their stretch fixed and make sure they don't overstretch (this is known as Fusion "k"), or have two thinner bands underneath and a bigger one at the top (something like 2x16+1x19).

Yoho, Where do you fish, NSW Australia? What size fish?

If you want a roller, how about a Rob Allen roller, as you are already using an RA Sparid? *

* My first spear gun was an RA Sparid railgun, 90cm.

I believe there is are several Australian roller-gun makers, which might be worth a look. And Italian and Spanish makers. Or Mako in the USA.

FYI I now have a 90cm Apnea roller gun (from Turkey) but I haven't used it much thus far. No kick though but it would be better if the metal line-release were bigger, more like the wonderful Omer XXV.

I prefer my non-roller guns for the modest sized British fish, often encountered at short range in unclear water.

Perhaps you could take a look at our recently released teak, enclosed track gun. This new model delivers quality at a very good price:
