Hello everyone, and thank you for reading.

I do most of my diving in the coast of south florida, have been using a JBL 38 special northwest speargun, and i'm getting this feeling that the gun isn't giving me what i want. And after some thoughts to it, and recalculation of my budget, I have been able to come up with some cash to buy a new one. However, there are to many guns in the market and i want to hear the opinion of the experts.

I have been looking at the Cressi Comanche and honstly I like how it looks, but, sometimes looks can be tricky...
If anyone could give me some feedback on the gun, (maybe some pros and cons), and/or some other brands that could be perhaps, better for a price within the range.

Thank you...

the comanche is great gun, i doubt that you will find any negative reviews on it....cressi launched a newer mdel though, the geronimo...
only disadvantage of the comanche i can think of, is that they dont make it in carbon, only aluminum, this wont matter for guns 90 or shorter..but if you are going for L100 or longer id go with an omer carbon gun, like the xxv gold, T20, etc...
you also need to make sure that euro type guns (like cressi and omer) are suitable for your hunting conditions...versus say the multibanded which can range from rob allen, rabitech to riffe, wong or aimrite...

for florida I wouldnt get under 110cm. I live in the keys and own a 110 apex and I am going to buy a 140 this winter for bluewater/deep reef situations.
Oh and I would suggest a used Rob Allen aluminum around 110cm. The aluminum ones are cheaper than carbon and rob allen guns are great as long as you but the little loading pad from flfreedivers...lol. The reason I dont recommend the commanche is the lack of a rail or track on the gun. But its only around 99$ at diversdirect so trying to find any gun in this pricerange is limited.

cressi makes comanche carbon also..

when they came out they had a carbon model, but not anymore, even the new geronimo is not being offered in carbon..i dont know why cressi dont like it? the apache carbon wasnt too good apparently, very buoyant and slow in tracking (due to its cross section)

Cressi Comanche, italian stuff. So we italians may have a word to say about.
On the most popular italian forum, apneamagazine.com, every "favourite gun" thread or poll is a wide victory for the Cressi Comanche. Italians love it.
In facts it was designed to be a durable but unexpensive, lightweight but accurate all arounder for Mediterranean fish and for Mediterranean hunting conditions.
In Florida I don't know, maybe you should upgrade to thicker bands (Cressi G20) and thicker shaft (a first quality stainless 6,5mm shaft with double flopper: Devoto shafts come to mind). Just remember that this gun was not designed for hunting Tuna. However, two of the most famous italian spearos, Carlo Lovicario and the ex World Champ Stefano Bellani, report they successfully hunt Tuna (big Red Tuna) with a Comanche 110, and they don't lie...

Cressi Carbon, available in all sizes, the 110 is perfect for tuna/AJs and other big med fish just use a breakaway system and no problems.

Cressi Comanche is an excellent gun, Riffe Euro is a great gun too, the 90cm can be loaded to (2) 3/4 bands comes with 5/8 which is sufficient for most anything in FL (excluding big bluewater pelagics) and its a laser...the best thing I could recommend is trying a few before you buy

Thanks a lot guys, your feed back has been great, I'm getting a 90cm or 100cm cressi, I found a store thats offering them for less than $100. Plus I'll have a good combo with the 38 special that i have already..
