Hello,
My name is Dave and I live in Orange County.
I proudly wear "Old Guys Rule" t-shirts. While not over the hill (yet), I am still an old guy comparatively speaking. OK... 57.
I used to do a lot of diving starting with scuba in 1971. I became certified advanced and a few other certs that are long gone and don't mean a hill of beans.
I soon switched to free diving as I felt it was not only simpler but just cleaner and seemed like it offered a lot more freedom.
I used spearguns but switched to a pole spear and was somewhat successful.
Once I started spearing, I did less H&L but still have that as a passion.
Over the years, I did less spear fishing for God knows whatever reason.
I started H&L more and more the past 10 years.
I still dove occassionally but no speargun per the boss (wifey)
I wanted to get my spearo gear but wifey was against it after seeing a Discovery special entitled "Shark Roulette".
Then, a few months ago we went to Catalina and after no luck H&L my friend jumped in and came out with a 37# yellow.
That did it. She knew it.
I am now getting back into it but still consider myself a beginner and have a LOT to learn.
I have a boat we keep at Dana Pt and frequently travel to Baja. We just got back from La Paz and did really good fishing but I was wishing I had my dive gear. Next time.
Our boats name and callsign is Nostrovia which translates to "To your health". A toast my mom used to make at family meals.
I like making YouTube fishing movies and have started making more underwater footage. More new gear needed. More $ to spend.
My gear so far is a Wong euro, a carbon Cayman 110, and a Ray Odor pole spear. Henderson suit and various Riffe accessories.
I am looking forward to meeting and talking with all of you.
Sincerely,
Dave Gora

Welcome dude, I'm just to the north of you. Yeah I would never go to LaPaz without my gear. That old record Wahoo in my avatar came from there.

Cheers, Don Paul

And welcome from Italy (Italy is Europe's California, sort of: mild weather, the finest wines and a deep State budget deficit. We have so much in common! lol).
