Does anyone know where to buy either one of these and which one would be best suited for wide feet? I use a Picasso now but want something a little lighter.

If you really mean foot pockets not the whole fin, I don't think on imersion fin you can have them separated, The blade is molded on the foot pocket.

For wide feet i would say the Dessault pockets are better suited however the immersion pockets are oh so comfy.

just for reference the imersion pockets are available seperatly but if you y the complete fin the blades are molded into them so you can not replace them, so if you like the pockets but want a differnt blade (carbon composite etc) then order the pockets seperatly then glue in your prefered choice of blade, easy.

as far as where to get them from it depends on where you are located.

Chuck,
I've never heard of Imersion footpockets avaible by themselves, but they are the widest I've been able to find.
An alternative for you might be to return the SpecialFins blades and contact Jimdoe2you and have him order a pair of Imersion fiberglass or carbon fins. That way you get the wide footpockets with really solidly mounted blades. Jim mentioned in a post to someone(?) that he could special order the Imersion fins with glass blades (manufactured by Breier in France). Delivery time might be an issue, as well as $$ and the stiffness of the blades, but it seems like a viable alternative.

There's a photo of Mike McGuire (one of the best US spearfishermen) with a pair at a Blue Water Meet in Baja in a recent copy of Hawaii Skin Diver, so they are out there and are getting used.

Hteas,

i know for a fact Imersion pockets are available seperately (I represent the australian distributor in North Queensland) i have quite a few friends that have them with various brands of composite and carbon blades glued into them.

as for Imersion composite and Carbon blades they are definetly available and the carbons are very nice but quite soft. there is also some new models available in the Mifsud carbon (stephano mifsud signature fin) which i am looking forward to trying out when they arrive not sure if the blade is made by Brier ut it would make sense.

DD,
Since you've played with Imersion footpockets, would you be able to pry out the plastic blades and glue in fiberglass ones, or would you have to start with new, clean ones?
Just curious?

I guess you could try but they are mouldedinto the pocket so mit would be seriously hard, but could be doable i guess.

starting with fresh pockets would be my choice that way you know they are not damaged and are clean.

what are you looking at putting in them? (if you say Mtechnics you better get me a pair aswell)

Nothing in particular. I was just wondering how they are made. If I did anything it would probably be to get a pair of Imersion glass or carbon fins.
