Hi guys, I just got into freediving and spearing to keep the dry spell between swells fun and active. I've surfed the NJ shore for 20+ years and love the place - but not enough surf.

Anyway, I had a suit and a mask, went to a local shop and bought a JBL Explorer and a $45 pair of fins. My first two dives were frustrating and unsucessful, until yesterday. Within 20 minutes I shot a 16" blackfish in 20'. It was my friends first time, I lent him the gun and he shot a 14" fish.

The local bar up the road was a great place for us to sit down and throw a few back after having such a great day in the water. I look forward to chating with all the members here.

ahh where abouts in NJ? i dont live there but head up there from time to time and would love someone to dive with

I'm a New Jersey native but have never been snorkeling or diving on the shore. What are the conditions like? How's the visibility? Where do you dive? I'm interested - maybe the next time I am back home I'll bring my gear back with me!
