Has anyone actually handled (or better, tried) the new Esclapez fins. They are separate from Imersion? The photos on their new site (not the old Imersion) look really good, and they claim improved footpockets. I have no access here, but would at least like to know about them. And, I can hope that an American distributor (Hana Paa maybe?) will pick them up.

YEP, had a pair for about 6 weeks now, also have a pair of the pockets with aftermarket blades in them, depending on whether you like soft or hard fins they make 2 models in the freediving style fin a soft and the MAX POWER!!!

have used the max power a couple of times (basically got a pair to try out) i like th foot pockets completely different the Imersion pockets ( and no they are not the same brand, completely seperate company)

pockets are detachable and have a soft and ahrd section (sinliar to Cressi) much harder than the old Imersion pockets and have REALLY long side rails, i found the pockets pretty confortable and they can handle alot of power.

bit of history on the brand (mind you its already on the website) but in short JB Esclapez (the man) left imersion a little while back and has now teamed up with a manufacturing company and they have realesed their own brand under the Esclapez brand. Initially just fins but soon expanding with wetsuits, masks, spearguns, gear bags etc, gear seems to be of good quality from the little i have played with, as for long term i dont know havent had enough time with them.

Thanks DD
I hope you don't mind 2 more questions
Is the section at the back of the heel more rigid than the old ones?
Are the footpockets as large as the old ones (can I still wear 5 mm socks with them)?
