Here are some photos of the new production Liquivision F1. You'll notice that the buttons in the button attachment are missing, and the display lacks the black tinted filter. Otherwise it looks like the production unit. It is also available in a black color (if you don't like the blue).

Eric,

It looks great. I see 4 holes on the button attachment. How many buttons will there be?

The size is difficult to judge from the photos, which could give a wrong impression of the size. I believe from the prototype that it is a handsome size. Could you perhaps post some measurements, compare it to a D3 or preferrably post a photo where you wear it on your wrist?

There are four buttons, and they are incredible fast and easy to push, you could push the button 5 times per second if you want. Also, the buttons are arranged in '+' configuration, they work like arrow keys, all you do is move the cursor around the screen, so you don't need to memorize what all the buttons do (except in stopwatch mode where you need remember a bit).

Here is a comparison photo for size.

looks pretty compact next to the D3 - that's good. is this the final production version? is it possible to download the dive profiles? i would love to get one, but money's a little tight right now. :)

This is the production version.

The F1 features an autograph feature, meaning it will graph your dive immediately upon surfacing if you want. To download the profile to your PC you need to buy the PC interface separately. If course your 'profile' now means several profiles, depth vs. time, velocity vs. time, salinity vs. time, temperature vs. time... etc...

You can also buy the re-programmer which allows you to upgrade your software to newer versions. Pre-order customers receive the re-programmer for free.

How fast it takes temperature samples?

Can it measure temperature as fast as you dive down, lets say new and accurate temp. measurment in every 2 meters or two seconds?

What are the battery types?

Are they user replaceable?

What about display? Dot matrix? Size? Illimunation (Background)?

Suddenly i interested when seeing it side by side with D3 its not that big at all...

...Murat, why not give it a chance to have the F1 for free on the Freedive-Lotto? (last day the 23th !!)

The F1 will be by FAR the best computer ever... yes, buy far.

regards,
Bill

The response time of the temperature sensor will be somewhere between 3-9 seconds (I will know in a few days). The grating on the front of the F1 is the heat sink that allows the temperature sensor to rapidly equalize with the water, and since the casing is hard-anodized aluminum, it has extreme thermal conductivity.

To see the display in action just look at the old prototypes on the website:
http://www.liquivision.ca
(same display, different casing & circuits)
The display is an Organic LED matrix, 128 x 64 resolution.

The battery is rechargeable and never needs to be changed. It should last for 20 years. The display is covered with borosilicate glass that cannot be scratched even with a surgical steel knife. The hard anodic coating on the casing should resist corrosion for 57 years of weekly diving. The strap is from the US military and has laser welded holes which will never fray.

The alarm is a two-tone 'siren' with programmable waveforms.

Later this week I will have a fully functional production unit so I can post new photos. There will be four production F1's at the AIDA world championships in France. So if you are going you can try it first hand.

Where is this lotto?? I did not heard about it!?!?!

Hi Eric,
What will be the final price of the F1, do you have a cost on the pc interface yet and when will it be available, and is the re-programmer available yet and the cost of it? Will there be any kind of discount if all three are bought together, at the same time?

Thanks Bill for the link.

It is quite unfortunate i am not up to date regarding to freediving record holders and current records etc etc...but it was quite fun rofl rofl rofl rofl

They should add spearfishing section for ignorant spearos like me :)

For the question of pricing....

These will be the approximate prices:
Watch:
- Via distributor $775 USD
- Via website $795 USD

Button attachment
- Via distributor $122
- Via website $135

Charger attachment
- Via distributor $105
- Via website $112

Whole package
- Via distributor $975 USD
- Via website $999 USD

Re-programmer:
- Via distributor $150
- Via website $165

This seems expensive but given how much it costs to make such an advanced computer, it should really be selling for $1500. In fact, at the prices above we might not even make money in the long term, and we may be forced to increase the price, but we want to start at something that most people can at least save up for.

The re-programmer is available immediately. The PC interface will be available in mid-October.

It's great that you can program it!

I hope that somebody makes a "personal drinking assistant" program for F1. Every time you down a drink, you let the computer know, so you get up to date info on your current blood alcohol content (to avoid downing too much), a forecast of what a certain drink would do to your blood alcohol levels and a time estimate of how much time it takes for you to burn the alcohol so that you're fresh for diving the next day. :)

Hey efattah, will you be donating one of these to the upcoming deeperblue competition? Be cool if we could get the chance to win one of these here :D

Eric, have you got any distributors set-up yet? Any one in your home town, Vancouver? That's where I am.

I'll second that Mr F with over 1 million individual users every year! You know it makes sense :)

Eric, have you got any completed F1s yet? You said you would post some more pictures of the F1 after you got one all complete with buttons, etc. Maybe a picture of a black unit too?
