So I just splurged and ordered a 100 pro predator along with a weight belt, weights, and a fish stringer. Just wondering how much reach the gun has and if it would be worth double wrapping the mono.

i have a predator 120 and am definately contemplating doubled wrapping. the gun has a lot of range with the existing setup and 5/8" bands. Right now i am still fishing in Northern CA so even using this gun right now is a bit of overkill. I bought it for a trip I am taking to central america. Anyways, depending on where you fish and the range you need i think the spear will certainly travel that far.

The suit looks absolutely fantastic and with all the positive feedback I think I would be doing an injustice by NOT buying from Mako...

About the suit, the only thing that puts me off is the velcro beaver tail. I just think it sounds less secure and more prone to becoming less 'sticky' with age compared to the omer style toggle connectors...Can anyone say otehrwise?

The guns also look superb Dano...can't wait until my next wage cheque!

Hey Elvis,
Thanks for sending the video. Very cool!! I am glad the suit fit you.

Hey Toomas,
Regarding the single or double wrap on your Predator Pro 120. I shoot a 120 Predator myself and from the grip to the spear tip, it is 22.68 feet, including the length of the gun (gun length plus spear length plus mono length). To get the actual shooting distance, simply deduct the length of the gun (spear length plus mono length). I also have a 140 that I use for blue water. I rigged it with a breakaway and it works great but the mono is not quite as long as a double wrap. If you rig with a double wrap and your bands are longer than normal, the spear might begin to arc towards the end of the mono.

take care guys..And, thanks for your business. I greatly appreciate having you as Mako customers.

Hey Dano thanks for the reply. I actually ordered the predator 100, I think liberte had the 120. Is there anyway to contact you or the store after hours? With the time difference and my work schedule it's never business hours for you.

Can't wait for the gear!
Thomas

Hey Toomas,
You can try me on my cell 540-226-3100. I am headed to the airport tonight for an early a.m. flight to Florida in the morning. Try me tonight. Don't worry about calling me too late. I am always up for talking about spearfishing.

thanks,
dano

Just got my new gear yesterday! Everything looks great and I can't wait to try the gun out sometime this week.

Quick question: I've been using a 70 with a 20mm band and loading has been a cinch. I'm a fairly big guy at 6'3" but I can't reach the band when the 100 mako is against my chest. I'm worried once I get in the water I won't be able to load the gun, any suggestions?

Thanks,
Thomas

there are a couple videos on how to load a long gun. you hold the gun's handle with one hand near your armpit, grab the slings with the other hand, then you slide the gun over into the center of your chest while your other hand holds onto the slings, taking a bit of the thension. once the gun is in your chest you reach out and grab the other side of the slings and load.

Hey Toomas,
I am glad to hear everything arrived O.K. I hope you have as much fun with the gun as I did in building it. I know it sounds crazy, but I get a sense of connection with my customers while I am building the guns. When I do the final check and pull back the bands, I can just imagine how many fish will be shot with the gun. I know...crazy, but cool!!

Regarding the loading, Liberte has it right. I could not have explained it any better. Thanks Liberte! One more thing to note... once you see fish, your arms get longer. If your gun was 10 feet long and you see fish, the gun will get loaded. It is magical!

If you ever need anything else, please let me know.
Thanks again for your business. I appreciate having you as a Mako customer.
