Just got a hold of those new Riffe guns and they are awesome. Havent had the chance to shoot it yet but looking forward to it.

Funny thing, no one can argue about taste, I think is the best looking gun that Riffe has made and I currently own a no kai oi.
I would like to know your impression about it, I was about to buy one my self it but I've ended up getting a teak-sea pal 100,

Did you get it with or without reel ?

What was the band and shaft combination ?

i think it looks sharp.

I got it without the reel, and i got it just as it comes from riffe(6.75mm shaft and 16mm bands). Figure i will add a reel later.

The suspense was killing me, so I went by Beach Cities Scuba in Dana Pt. to see the gun. They had the 90 cm in stock, and I'll have to admit that it was a sexy little thing. It has a thumb operated safety rather than that old thing I always cut off of the wood guns and the line release has a deeper curve on the back side, which should presumably hold onto the line better.

The wood is sort of flat in profile, wider than it is tall, so it should swing easier because of that.

I have heard people say that they thought $165 was a steep price for the Sporasub Instinct reel that Riffe has adapted for the gun. I looked at the reel, and did find some ways to rationalize part of the higher price.

It had what the tag said was 180 feet of fairly thick line on it. Mori charges 30 cents per foot for his 3 mm Spectra, so that would amount to $54 for the line alone, and Riffe and many others get more for line than Mori.

Also, it had two stainless threaded inserts for the reel installed in the wood, and I pay around $5 each for similar inserts at West Marine to install in my guns. And these are already installed, so I couldn't screw it up.

The reel looked like it must have come with a curved plastic mounting surface for fitting to a round barreled gun, and there was a plastic piece that filled that area so that it fit against the flat bottom of the gun, with two stainless machine screws inserted through it.

Everything considered, I think the price of the reel and everything that comes with it is not out of line compared to similar products.

Of course I'm not sure of the rationale for making wood versions of Euro guns, but I guess Omer and Picasso are doing it too. They sure look prettier. Of course Amphibious thinks it looks ugly, and that just shows to go that there is no accounting for taste. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder with spearguns as well as women, but I thought this was a very nice looking gun,

:inlove I like the new Riffe Euro. Got to handle one at the dive shop the other day and it was soo nice. The magnetic track is also an interesting idea.

I like the look of it, functional and to the point. What are the chances of us in the UK ever seeing them for sale here?

I've spoken and had emails from Julie Riffe before when I investigated the possibilities of importing for Silent Blue Ltd. Basically she will sell direct to anyone in UK as they have no distributor here. Send her an email, she is very friendly. Or, convince Dave at spearo UK to import a load of guns

i love that look of the riffe euro gun. i think its good that they are expanding their line. if i ever have to get a euro gun, (and if i had the cash ) i would get the riffe euro.

Your argument goes from the Subject standpoint, but they are things that have universal status and logic necessity such as the Newton's laws. Think about Jessica Alba and a Magnum Hybrid. :inlove :inlove :inlove

Jessica Alba and a Magnum Hybrid? Hmmm. Which one do you think would give me longer service?

I've heard that with Jessica, some cases of premature trigger release have been reported.

Since my initial post, a couple of guys have been on my boat with these Riffe Euro guns, and both seemed to be happy with them.

However, I did not ask them to compare the guns to Jessica.

Al least Wong Hybrids have life time warranty. Anybody knows about Jessica?

Early this year I was considering buying the Euro-Riffe but at the end, I've decided to go with the teak-sea pal-100, no regrets, especially after reading this thread.
The price was about the same including shipping from Greece.

Clear back when Jay gave the Neptunes a sneak preview of the Euro-gun, I told him he could sell a bundle of those in the UK. He replied that he expected to sell a bundle of them worldwide. The company's willing if your side of the pond will just come up with someone who wants to make money. Why is this such a difficult proposition?

Touché, the inmutability of matter is no longer an issue since the invention of aimrite and Wong guns due to the lifetime warranty!!! shame on me to compare two different things ... At the end maybe they are not that different at all, just for the fact that the M.H. Beauty will certainly outlasts Jessica's ..:t
